Magician Rob Zabrecky is famed for his unique fusion of illusion and absurdist humor, which is on view regularly at L.A.'s legendary Magic Castle. His all-new variety show -- entitled An Evening with Rob Zabrecky: Mourning the Moon, Digital Dancing, and Witchcraft for all ages -- runs for one night only, and features highlights of that offbeat act, along with singing, dancing, audience interaction and feats of parapsychology. His special guests include Imaginary Bear (featuring Tanya Haden) and music by Liberty Larsen and Shayne Eastin. I had an absolute awesome time at the drive-in I would recommend you either get there early enough to get a good front spot or you have a suv and park on the back wall if possible. Some people even brought fold out chairs which were GREAT with the weather I might do that next time just need a radio or something for sound.(use car) The BEST part of the night was the intimate Q&A with the Director where everyone left the cars and went into the Theater there was plenty of time for us to ask anything we wanted so think up something Interesting for the next one : ) The Director had a wealth of great stories to tell and I am glad I was able to be there! I will be attending the next two weeks aswell!

A great time was had by all. I plan on going back for Susperia and Phantom of the Paradise. My two companions had never been to a drive-in before and had a great time.

This event was great. For a makeshift drive- in close by in Los Feliz. We were able to have a night picnic and cocktails. It was a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, the director didn't show, but otherwise we had a great time. The staff was really friendly, and offered us free popcorn to make up for the lost director. Having a "roller girl" was a cool twist. Gonna try to hit up another show this summer!

Description

Following the sold-out drive in series from last year, the Steve Allen Theater is proud to announce a new series that features some of the greatest minds in horror. Each of them will appear in person for a screening of their Masters of Horror episode, followed by a Q&A and a screening of one of their feature films! All of these directors have done at least one episode for the award winning series Showtime’s Masters of Horror.

May 8 (It's Alive)
Screening with It's Alive director Larry Cohen's Masters of Horror episode, "Pick Me Up"
Two urban legends collide on a desolate roadside when Wheeler, a serial killer who slays hitchhikers, offers a ride to Walker, a hitchhiker who slays any individual unlucky enough to offer him a ride. Caught between these two bearers of death and destruction is our heroine, a 25 year old woman who will need to choose her ally carefully or become another bloody notch on a belt in this deadly game of cat and mouse.

May 15 (Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight)
Screening with Ernest R. Dickerson's Masters of Horror episode, "The V Word"
Two rowdy teenage boys break into an old mortuary looking for a good time, only to find themselves stalked by the owner who is a very real vampire.

May 29 (Phantasm 2)
Screening with Don Coscarelli's Masters of Horror episode, "Incident On and Off a Mountain Road" Based on Joe Lansdale's short story of the same title, this episode pits Ellen (Bree Turner), a seemingly defenseless young woman, against Moonface, a deformed and demented serial killer. As the story cuts back and forth in time, we slowly discover that our heroine is not as helpless, nor as innocent as she initially seems. Trained by her abusive husband Bruce (Ethan Embry) to be a survivalist, instructed to use any and every available object as a weapon in a time of need, Ellen gets to test the real life application of these lessons. Also starring Angus Scrimm.

June 5 (King of the Ants)

Screening with Stuart Gordon's Masters of Horror episode, "The Black Cat"
Set in 1840 Philadelphia, Edgar Allan Poe, struggling with alcoholism, writer's block and a lack of cash, is tormented by his wife Virginia's black cat that will either destroy his life or inspire him to write one of his most famous stories.
