Pianist Mona Golabek pays moving tribute to her pianist mother -- a survivor of the Holocaust and the London Blitzkrieg -- in this hit concert drama directed by audience favorite Hershey Felder. Golabek, seated onstage at the piano, performs some of the world's most beloved piano music while sharing harrowing true tales of her mother's life. As a young Jewish pianist in 1938 Vienna, Golabek's mother, Lisa Jura, dreamt of a concert debut at the storied Musikverein concert hall. But when she was swept up in the Kindertransport to London in an attempt to be protected from the Nazi regime, everything about Jura's life was upended -- except her love of music. The Los Angeles Times calls The Pianist of Willesden Lane "an arresting, deeply affecting triumph." Learn More
Melissa Green began singing with kids while she was teaching at
Beginnings Nursery in New York City in 2003. With the encouragement from the school, Melissa learned how to play guitar and became the music and movement specialist. Inspired by her students, Melissa began writing songs and with the help of a very talented friend and producer, Beau Elliott, they began writing and recording together.
Melissa brought her folky pop children's music to the west coast after relocating to Los Angeles in 2005. Her debut CD "HERE WE GO" was released in 2006. Melissa continues to teach music at various preschools and has also created music classes to be enjoyed at your home. She can be seen performing all over the city and is celebrating the release of her second CD.
Music Stars & Masters provides opportunities for children of all ages and their families to explore music on a multi-instrumental level. Their classes are designed to inspire, encourage creativity and build self-confidence.
