A terrific show, great energy, beautiful puppets!
The venue is marvelous; the performance was superb although far too short. The implication was that several stories would be enacted when in reality it was only the two stories described... we drove longer to get there than the 45 minutes it took to watch the show.
There is no Hoichi... he's a Japanese archetype. This was very disappointing to the kids.
The staging, acting and plot lines were superb.
The Geffen Playhouse is newly renovated, closing for over a year, and re-opening in November of 2005. The renovations are stunning, and provide for improved accoustics and sitelines. In addition to the Main Stage there is now the more intimate Audrey Skirball-Kenis Theater, which will focus on newer works for the Los Angeles community.
