An underwhelming experience, with no characters we care about, no songs we want to sing. An uninspired remake - go rent the movie, it was a lot better.Written on May 03 2010

It is worth an evening out. The singers are all good and staging was well done. It is a story that the audience must really pay attention to the details to keep it together. When Stan makes his appearance, you think he is carnival shell but, then it is realize he isn't.Written on May 17 2010
I don't want to be a spoiler but for some reason the first act lack more conflict points. There were a few places this could had occurred, but the story didn't take advantage of them.
That is all I am going to say because the overall show is good; well produce, directed, the music carries and the musicians are great, and the actors do good to their characters; specially multi parts, each character is distinctive.
The music score from act one to act two could had been more contrast when there is a change of venue to add to more atmosphere, yet, I understand the reason for the two places having similarities.
The conclusion, like or dislike, we be to the mind of the audience.
Staging, stage design and overall lighting design was well done. There were a few dark areas when a actor was performing, but, depending on the individual audience, it works or doesn't.
Bottom line; go and enjoy a slice of carnival life behind the scenes.

A very very good job. Better than most Broadway performances. The Joe character stole the show with his physical mastery and dancing moves and multiple parts. Still the male lead is a Broadway quality professional who dominates the stage with his acting skill and whose golden voice transfixed all the women in the audience. The female lead is not so experienced and is a little clumsy with her arm movements and voice, but she is more than adequate, and carries off her part. The mind reader, is excellent, as too is the Carnival barker in each of his roles. We had a wonderful time and would enjoy seeing it again . If you get a chance, go see this one!Written on May 03 2010

This was by FAR AND AWAY the worst piece of theater I have seen in decades. It is a bewildering joyless mess. My friend and I would have gladly left after Act One, but we were so curious to see if it could possibly get worse. And it did. The actors look entirely lost - each employing different styles of acting - it's like everyone thinks they're in a different play. I'd say that the music was entirely forgettable, but that would be a lie, as I had a headache after some of the AWFUL 'songs'. The main problem, other than the lifeless vapid lead players, is the content. It's just not there. It's like they're making it up as they go along. There's no set-up. No beginning of a plot. You have no idea who is the main character. Shocking! STAY AWAY - this mindless rubbish deserves to tank.Written on Apr 28 2010
