The raw, unvarnished beauty of the Mojave desert and the surrounding town of Joshua Tree are on the docket for this day of adventure, which begins with a bus trip from Los Angeles into the dusty environs that feel like a world away. The tour stops first at Joshua Tree National Park, where lunch will be provided on the large granite boulders of the Hall of Horrors. With numerous climbing and hiking opportunities, the park offers a great jumping off point for a discussion of the area's history. Bring money for dinner at one of the quirky restaurants in Joshua Tree, and head back to L.A. feeling refreshed and renewed from this desert oasis amid the hectic activity of city life.

A terrific day excursion! The comfort of being a passenger--with like-minded people to enjoy chatting with. This is a wonderful taste of the outdoors with light hiking, a fabulous lunch, some good stories told by the very entertaining and qualified leader and interesting stops in the area.

I had a wonderful time. Our tour guide, Aaron Sims, drove the van with all eight of us, including Aaron. He is so even-tempered, very important when a bunch of strange people pile in who don't know him, or each other. He is a fantastic cook. Lunch was the proving ground, and we all were so happy 'cause it was so yummy. Great snacks. Aaron is a great story-teller about the local stuff that went on historically in Mojave and Joshua Tree. Great chat, hikes that were doable, and a wonderful, yummy dinner at Crossroads Cafe in Joshua Tree. Best chili and cornbread. Aaron got us home on time. I am planning my next outing, maybe Yosemite. Highly recommend.
