We didn't bring chairs as we wanted to sit closer. I would recommend the chairs that are flat on the ground but have a back to them. It would be a lot more comfortable. Also bring a jacket, even though it was a warm day, the temperature dropped quite a bit in the evening. So dress appropriately.Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival 2014 info • Aug 25 2014 star this tip starred

I was definitely glad to have booked through Goldstar because the front section was reserved for Goldstar members. I did not have to worry about not being able to see or hear what was going on. The show was great and entertaining. I definitely stress getting there early. We arrived at 6pm, and we got a great area. We had a picnic beforehand, and we finished before the show started so that we weren't making a lot of noise. Definitely bring a jacket and possibly a hat because it does get very chilly. Overall, a great experience, fun for the whole family.

The service fee does not go to the Independent Shakespeare Co. If you enjoy this production and would like to help support this free program, please make a donation at the event or via their website.
After six seasons in Barnsdall Park, Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC) is moving its summer festival of free performances to Griffith Park.
In 2009 despite diminished funding, the festival played to its largest audience ever: nearly 12,000. Audience members were routinely turned away due lack of space.
The new site in Griffith Park (at the Old Zoo) can hold twice as many people; is a beautiful and quiet spot; and is readily accessible to plentiful, free parking.
Othello, presented with a multi-cultural cast, stars Cameron Knight, an actor with credits at some of the top theaters in the United States. He leads a cast of stage professionals, whose experience ranges from Broadway, London’s West End, major US regional theaters, and some of LA’s best venues.
There is no seating at the site. Please bring a blanket or lowbacked
chair. It is also very cool when the sun goes down. Dress warmly!
