Bring really comfortable seating, because it's a long evening sitting on the ground. Also, it's pitch black after so make sure you have a light to get back to the parking lot.

You are sitting on the grass, so bring a blanket and I would also bring a pillow. By the end of the evening my behind was a bit tired. Can't bring chairs if you are planning to sit near the stage.

Excellent production of Othello. Very nice setting and fun to visit Griffith Park. Easy parking. Get there early (even with reserved spot) to find a good seat. Sitting too far back makes it difficult to hear. It got very cold last night so...continued

They were outstanding. The level of acting was amazing, and the simple direction/sets/props made it all about the writing and the acting. What a treat!

The service fee does not go to the Independent Shakespeare Co.  If you enjoy this production and would like to help support this free program, please make a donation at the event or via their website.

After six seasons in Barnsdall Park, Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC) is moving its summer festival of free performances to Griffith Park.

In 2009 despite diminished funding, the festival played to its largest audience ever: nearly 12,000. Audience members were routinely turned away due lack of space.

The new site in Griffith Park (at the Old Zoo) can hold twice as many people; is a beautiful and quiet spot; and is readily accessible to plentiful, free parking.

Othello, presented with a multi-cultural cast, stars Cameron Knight, an actor with credits at some of the top theaters in the United States. He leads a cast of stage professionals, whose experience ranges from Broadway, London’s West End, major US regional theaters, and some of LA’s best venues.

There is no seating at the site. Please bring a blanket or lowbacked

chair. It is also very cool when the sun goes down. Dress warmly!
