All the fun was in the audience, I think. I was on stage (faking that I was under hypnosis - what are you going to do? Say, "hey, this didn't take")and had to stiffle my giggles.
Warning for those who might consider volunteering to be on stage:
1. If you are successfully hypnotized, you will actually miss the show.
2. You may end up not completely hypnotized and need to get off stage in the middle. If you get off in the middle, you may not get a proper wake-up.
I volunteered to be on stage on this show. We were advised to really commit to doing this hyposis and try our best to concentrate to achieve the ideal result. However, Dr. Lewis spoke very fast and the audiance was laughing very loudly, which made it difficult to hear his instructions clearly and concentrate.
I didn't get completely hypotized. I felt very sleepy and dizzy afte the first 10-15 minutes and eventually left the stage. Feeling half sober, I was very anxious to watch what's making the audiance laughing so hard, which made it even harder to concentrate late on. After being given instructions, a lot of the expected reactions were built on what people's common perception to embarrassing scenarios. However, if in real life, you don't perceive such scenarios as embarrassmeng, you will not be the ideal actor to dramatize what Dr. Lewis hoped to create. I happened to be one of those who found "nothing funny/wrong about what we were asked to do" and "didn't feel I needed to act like the rest of the actors on stage".
I think it will be a more interesting on-stage experience for someone who can really concentrate and act out in public without feeling embarrassed. When I got off the stage, I felt dizzy and sleepy for the remainder of the show and didn't recover until 2 hours later. All the laughter couldn't keep me concentrate on what was happening.
In addition, after the show, my friend and I found out one of the persons that volunteered to go on stage was part of the theatre staff, which raised the question of whether any part of the this show was staged. Although there was nothing wrong with a theatre worker wanting to be part of the volunteers, we were a little disappointed to see them not trying to avoid such biasness, as the value of this show roots deeply in its truthfulness.

This was a lot of fun, especially since I got to be one of the volunteers on stage which was a kick! Dr. Lewis is very entertaining and delivered exactly what my friends and I were anticipating. The venue left something to be desired, however, with inadequate seating but other than that I would recommend this event. The extra added bonus was the show which followed Dr. Lewis and we saw for free - the 313 Improv players were great and equally entertaining.

HE WAS GREAT! A QUICK PACED AND ENTERTAINING SHOW. MY FIRST HYPNOSIS SHOW. I'LL ATTEND AGAIN WHEN POSSIBLE.

The hypnotist was good but he talked so fast I was amazed the people under hypnosis understood him. Also, they offer validated valet parking but the valet does not set up until 10 minutes before the show. Everone is stuck paying $10 at the parking lot next door.

This show is OUTRAGEOUS!

My friends and I had a really great time! Very talented players!
