One of the most sacred taboos in theater is broken when mime and spoken word unite in Human Identity, a solo show from Christopher Vened. A star of Henryk Tomaszewski's world-famous Wroclaw Pantomime Theater, Vened was the toast of the Eastern European theater scene until he daringly defected while on tour in the West. In the decades since, he's become an influential force in the worlds of performance and training, writing a key textbook and teaching at UCLA. Funny, inventive and eye-opening, his latest piece of "monodrama theatre" is nothing less than a quest to figure out the meaning of human identity. Learn More

I thought this production was absolutely spectacular. Dynamite performances from an incredibly talented cast and a gripping, engaging and exciting new script. While the swerve in Act 2 might be jarring for some, I thought the story well thought out, and enjoyed how it went in a daring direction. Furthermore, looking back, the clever writing had hints and seeds for the shift planted all throughout Act 1. It was fascinating to see them come to fruition in such an explosive fashion, especially by such talented actors. Also, the tech elements shouldn't be ignored - the set, lights, sound and props were all polished and professional quality. Lastly, the scene transitions, and how they continued the story, were a shining example of just how no detail was overlooked, and how everything was used to further the plot in this well-executed tour-de-force. Bravo. I can't wait to see more from Brimmer Street!
