    Fields Pianos is closing its doors and Parlor Performance Producer Jeannine Frank who, for the past five years, has been producing shows in Fields’ underground recital space, Steinway Hall, is determined to squeeze the last drop of laughter from her beloved subterranean venue.

    On Saturday and Sunday, August 15 & 16th, Frank will be producing Parlor Palooza 2009 -- a mini-marathon of comedy, cabaret and solo theatre. She plans to present 6 different performing artists per show with matinee and evening shows both days. Artists will be donating their time and talent, with all profits going toward the completion of a documentary film (Leave Them Laughing) by Academy Award-winning filmmaker John Zaritsky about Carla Zilbersmith -- the extraordinary jazz singer/ comedian/ former theatre professor with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

    ALS is one of the worst diseases one can possibly get and yet Carla continues to live a meaningful life as creating music, wicked comedy and gut-wrenching essays (www.carlamuses.blogspot.com) which have touched thousands of lives and have connected her with a growing list of supporters around the world.
