The tour is of an exhibition that you can get into on your own for free, but for those who didn't live through the times of most of the TV shows shown (1960s, 1970s) it is informative to have the guide there to talk you through the historical significance. I'm not sure I would have paid the full regular price ($25, as listed from Goldstar) but Goldstar's discount price "free with additional processing fee = $6" tickets are a great choice.
Not the fault of the tour guide, but the thumbnail image of the scene from the TV show "The Tudors" is a little misleading - while you do get to see exactly three costumes from that show, you don't get to see those costumes in the screenshot image in the exhibit.
This event, like the Oscar costumes exhibit last year was really delightful and the docents provide great insight into the details and the work involved. Well worth the money.
The tour was much more interesting than I'd ever imagined it could be -- the tour director had done so much research and had so many interesting facts that it didn't matter whether or not you'd see the shows, it was still lots of fun and entertaining. Great way to spend the afternoon!
The tour guide was very nice and informative.
Quick Culture does an excellent job of providing details about each costume that you would never get by just looking at the exhibit on your own. Love the inside stories. Can't wait for the Oscars exhibit next year. We're definitely going.
I really liked the guided tour. The guide was fabulous, with great details! My group was small (five people) so you could ask questions, and look at will. It makes me want to take another tour at the same location (they have a Feb-March Oscar tour). Fantastic!
I would not have seen this exhibit if it were not for my film major grand daughter. The tour guides presented the material with knowledge and appreciation and everyone thoroughly enjoyed hearing the information about all the many fabulous costumes. This is a wonderful tour.
The women who led the tour were great and had lots of interesting supplemental information. The exhibit was a little small but still very fun.
Great tour. Seeing the exhibit with a private guide really enhanced the experience since the museum offers very little supplemental information. I hadn't expected the TV/Emmy exhibit to be as much fun as FIDM's Movie/Oscar exhibit but it was just as interesting even though I hadn't seen all of the shows. The guides were informative and had some surprising and entertaining facts about not only the clothing but the actors and the designers as well. I also enjoyed looking at the exhibits that were a retrospective. It brought back memories! I highly recommend it!
