"Re-Animator- The Musical" was insane and funny, and an entertaining musical as well! Music sometimes reminded me of Gilbert and Sullivan with the songs telling the story, and the atmospheric underscoring music was fantastic. Campy special gory makeup effects were just the right degree of goofy and gross, the lighting was in a style of "High Drama", the acting and performances were on target with just the right tone of serious/camp, and the show held your interest from beginning to end. George Wendt was hysterical as always, and the rest of the excellent cast looked like they were loving it as much as the audience. One short intermission to catch your breath, then back for a throughly entertaining evening. I LOVED it. and am going back to take friends. And one note about the "splash zones"... the first two rows are designated, but don't believe it. I saw blood fly farther than that into the audience 5-6 rows back. They assured us it will wash out, but if you are an uptight hipster who doesn't want their vintage wear soiled, leave it home and wear black. I plan on sitting close next time and getting bloodied! This show is gonna catch on big-time. See it while you still can!Written on Mar 15 2011

If you are looking for a great way to spend a weekend evening, then check out Re-Animator, the Musical.Written on May 30 2011
If you are a fan of campy 80's Horror, check out Re-Animator, the Musical.
If you are looking for a way to be "dirty" check out Re-Animator, the Musical.
This was the fourth time my husband and I saw the production, and every time has been different, and better, than the one before. The actors truly embrace their characters, and if you are a fan of the original movie, you'll be left wondering, "Why wasn't it a musical to begin with?."
Lots of people are becoming regulars, so show up at least an hour (or maybe 90 minutes) before doors to get a place for the splash zone. And if you want to be in the splash zone...wear something that you don't mind being REALLY bloody!
This show has it all: Music, Comedy, Drama, and Blood. It's a perfect concoction to produce a night of awesome entertainment!

This is a very fun show with really good special effects. The cast all appeared to be enjoying performing. We enjoyed watching them, too.Written on May 30 2011
The songs are cute and the sound was excellent. The singers all had excellent diction and it was easy to hear all of the lyrics. A very talented cast performing a truely unique show.
The theater is nice and there is a large, free parking lot behind it.

...I read all the reviews from other goldstar clients who saw this musical and they were so positive that I thought this was going to be one of those little jewels we find from time to time...what I found instead was stupid show with singers that could not sing and possibly the WORST theater staging in Los Angeles. All the seats are set up at eye level so if you're unlucky enough to sit a few rows back all you see is the upper third of a the players body and with no microphone's their weak voices failed to carry to the back of the room...this "theater" is better suited for town hall meetings, funerals or weddings, but as a venue for theater it is highly unlikely that I'll set foot there again...needless to say we escaped at intermission...Written on May 16 2011

Description
In 1985, Stuart Gordon directed his first feature film and created a sensation. It was Re-Animator, a smashing success based on a horror story by H.P. Lovecraft. The film delivered as many laughs as it did screams making it a cult classic among horror fans and winning a Critic’s Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, Gordon is back with his co-writers Dennis Paoli and William J. Norris and composer/lyricist Mark Nutter to turn Re-Animator into a musical for the stage.
The cast stars Chris L. McKenna (King of the Ants), and Jesse Merlin (Star of The Beastly Bombing). Also starring, Rachel Avery, Mark Beltzman, Cynthia Carle, Brian Gillespie, and Liesel Hanson, and introducing Graham Skipper as Herbert West.
Special effects are being done by the same guys who did them for the 1985 movie: Tony Doublin, John Naulin and John Beuchler. And the blood will flow so freely that the first row will be designated as a “splash zone.” Needless to say, the show is not for small children.
