Fun show, beware the first few rows!

Very funny and well done off beat musical.

It was a campy, fun show. Overall it was funny and had some good performers. I thought some of the intentional blood spray on the audience detracted from the show but clearly others were there for that purpose, so to each their own. Seeing the die-hard fans dressed up as their favorite characters for the late show was fun. Street parking was easy to find and the meters only charge until 8 p.m.

I thought it was very funny, bloody, and campy! Don't sit in the first 2 rows unless you want to get bloody. The play was done well, humorous, and tongue-in-cheek. Beware: there is partial nudity and lots of gore, so not for all ages.

It was kind of fun but a bit too silly for my taste. It was a little Rocky Horroresque but fell short.

Fabulously campy rendition of an old horror movie! Not recommended for the squimish! Beware! The plastic covered "splash zone" is there for a reason! Dress comfortably and casually.

This show is fantastic!! I was really struck by the inventiveness of the set pieces and the creativity of the special effects. The sfx aren't big budget, but they work really well. The audience laughed and sometimes screamed, but were never bored. I recommend that everyone see this. Next time it's in town, I'm bringing all of my friends.

I bought tickets to this play based on all of the previous reviews. I went with my husband and our best friends. We arrived a bit late and were seated all the way in the back. I was afraid we would have bad seats, but we were able to enjoy the show from the back seats.
The show was great. At first I didnt know what to expect but they had us laughing hysterically. We truly enjoyed this show!!!

I think this musical would be a great introduction for a teenager or other young person that has never been to the theater. It was funny, at times hysterical, and just plain fun. I had no idea what to expect and I had a great time.

this musical was the funniest thing i have ever seen! i am a big fan of the movie, so the musical was great. went with a friend who never saw the movie, and she said she had never laughed as much as she did at this show. what tremendous fun!

"Re-Animator the Musical" is flat out the most entertaining live event that I have ever enjoyed. It doesn't matter if you're a fan of the original movie. The tale of two bizarre scientist vying for the secret to re-animating the dead is retold with fantastic songs, performances and bloody effects that are almost a magic trick. The audience who dares sit in the "Splash Zone" (highly recommended) are part of the show. This is a must-see.

If you liked the movie, you'll love the musical. High camp, with very funny lyrics... but the melodies were pretty unmemorable. We sat in the "splatter" seats covered in "raincoats" that the theater provides. It was one of the highlights of the evening... and BOY DID THEY SPLATTER. Many of the people on the front row got drenched in blood, vomit, and an intestine that wouldn't die spraying it's red goo some 30 or more feet into the audience. I couldn't stop laughing, but I WAS GLAD to have the "raincoat". Note: only the first 4 rows from the front are the "Splatter" section. The cast was terrific with strong voices, and bring down the house performances. You could tell they were having fun, and so did everyone else. I would definitely go again. The show is very faithful to the movie with some surprisingly stunning special effects. Seats are first come first serve, so get there early. We got there at 7:20 (show began at 8:00) and the line was ALREADY around the block. 'Still we got great seats! Great time! 'Don't miss it if you're into this sort of thing... you WON'T be disappointed.

I attended this show with my 17 year old daughter for her Drama class Professional Critique. She did not know who George Wendt was, but I did and he was Grreatt!!! Not knowing what to expect we were engaged with the show the whole time. It was fast moving and very entertaing musically (1 guy with a synthesizer only). All the characters were perfect for their roles with facial expressions to "die" for. Bravo! Good Show!

This is not "Death Of A Salesman." BUT it is just 90 minutes of pure fun.
A cross of "Rocky Horror" and "Blue Man Group" the packed house just ate it up.
We were newbies, but the house was filled with people who were here for the second and third and even more times. The line to get in ran around the building for a chance to sit in the first 3 rows

The most Animated version of this show yet!!!! It's stupendous! The cast is amazing, the chemistry is glowing and there is JUST enough camp to make me want to go back AGAIN!!!!

Absolutely brilliant. Entertaining even if you haven't seen the movie, but if you are a fan of the movie it is a must see.

I had a great time at this show, very funny and bloody. Great performances by all. Being a fan of the film, I wasn't sure how it would translate to a musical but I was not disappointed.

Absolutely NO leg room and I am only 5'6. Good thing the musical was so cleverly written to take my mind off how uncomfortable I was. Good cast and songs were well performed. A fun evening. The first few rows get soaked so wear something easy to wash if you plan to sit up close.

Outstanding performances. It is a very professional production, each ad every step of the way, a satisfying experience.
Paid $10.00, plus fees, late night performance, WOW what a deal. Took entire family, 3 teenagers, and wife, all liked the performance, Eli Roth was there, and that made it a little bit more special for the kids.

This was my 11th time seeing Re-Animator, and it was the best show ever! The show is great every time, but this time the cast was on fire more than usual, and usual is always amazing. If you have not seen it, you owe it to yourself to see one of the coolest, funniest, shows ever written.
Go!!! I'll be there for every remaining performance!!!

Bloody good time.

This is a show best suited for those who've seen it before, it's really more farce theater, a bad mix of little shop of horrors and rocky horror picture show.

An absoutely wonderful way to spend a Friday evening. Innovative and well done. I would recommend to anyone.

Goofy fun. Very inventive, but somewhat repetitious. The people in the splash zone couldn't wait for the deluge.

I loved this show! I was intrigued as to how you can adapt an HP Lovecraft into a musical but it was perfection! Scary, funny, exciting - I couldn't stop smiling! It was abolutely fantastic and I'm telling everyone I know to go see it - I may end up seeing it again. A rare treat, for sure!

I love musicals! And I like some horror...aka Rocky Horror Picture Show...And the cast works so very hard. Maybe that is what was missing, the dynamics. It seemed that every number was full-throttle. Some nice, dainty, mysterious suggestions would have made the big numbers BIGGER.
Sometimes the suggestion is better than the real thing. Dr West was too, too much. Trying to win best cast member. There is alot of good talent in this production. It needs glue and continuity.
A warning...if you do not want to get hit with liquids from the stage, sit back a bit.

For one that generally avoids musicals, this live-action redux of the 80s classic gore-fest is hilarious! Great performances and witty, over-the-top numbers make this one certainly something to remember. If you're a fan of the original film, musicals in general, or simply like trying something zany and different - check it out!

A funny, blood stained musical of a horror/B movie classic. Small production so the set could have been better but everything else makes up for it. Ridiculously entertaining!!

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. Smartly written,Wonderfully played and Especially funny. Did I say, we loved it? Each actor was strong with facial expressions to DIE for. Staging was imaginative and effective. Would love to see it again.

My family and I absolutely LOVED this show! It was entertaining and funny! We had even heard about the possibility of getting sprayed in the first three rows so we chose to sit in Row 6.

We enjoyed it so much that we are thinking about seeing it again.

This was my 4th time seeing this show, but the first time in their new theater. They've added a few bits here and there since last year, but this musical is better than ever. The songs are catchy and the actors are enthusiastic and hilarious, even as they're trying to emote through geysers of gore. I will definitely be back for a 5th time!

Fantastic FUN! I saw it when it was at the Steve Allen Theater. Gaining steam, and Broadway bound. Only issue was with George Wendt, obviously cast for his name to draw people in. Sweet guy, but lacked the energy needed for that character. I miss the original Dean/Dad.

This was WONDERFUL! Sitting in the splatter zone made it even MORE FUN! Whether you’ve seen the original Re-Animator classic of not, this production was clear and funny and even had a few ‘jump out of your seat’ moments. For a treat before Halloween – GO AND SEE IT!!

I loved it! This is the second time I've seen this show (I caught it first when it was here months ago). This show still has the original, wonderful cast, and they look like they're having a ball onstage. The audience was roaring with laughter and totally caught up with the craziness of the show. It's so fun and totally inspired. The friend I took to the show is now wants to go back again & is trying to get several others to see it with her.

Whoa! What an evening-- over the top, much! Saw the movie way back in the mid-90's and loved it then for being so campy, out there, etc. Told my wife I'd bought tickets to the musical, then net-flixed the movie so she could see it in advance of going to see the musical... It didn't thrill her, she's not a big fan of zombie type horror flicks, but she -- and the couple we took as our guests -- really loved the musical! Highly recommend this production, very well done, lots of fun!!

BLOODY AWFUL - BUT A LOT OF FUN!

The most fun I've ever had at the theatre. LOVED IT.

LOVED IT! The show was hilarious! And although my date and I showed up minutes before the show started we were able to find parking and get our tickets easily. We even scored seats in the splash zone! We loved the music and the cast was amazing!

First off, my wife and I loved the show. Great cast, big laughs, a good time; should have been five stars. BUT while they do say the first three rows are 'wet'rows' and that you might get wet in general, what they don't say is it's water mixed with red food coloring. That's like saying water mixed with red wine. We were in the fifth row and got hosed in the last act. We had red spots all over our clothes and had to soak them in vinegar that night to get the stains out. I can't believe I'm the first person to wish they'd known in advance what the deal was.

Hilarious, entertaining, lots of great talent.

My experience with musicals is limited to the few I've seen at the Pantages but this was definitely different and worthwhile. Very small theatre in an interesting part of the city. Clever songs and dialogue. First three rows MAY get wet? They WILL get SOAKED! So stay back if you're not into that.

4of us went withhout knowing anything about it except not 2 sit in first 5 rows....Glad we were warned!!! Loved the performances by the cast,such energy and enthusium!!

This show is absolutely BRILLIANT! Hilariously funny. Worth every penny... even if it had been at full price. Don't miss it.

The show was totally fun but the sound was all over the place. Some people were too loud, others too soft. I know I missed a lot of funny lyrics...honestly a 4 piece band and consistency in the mics would have made the experience SO much more fun and maybe some fun lighting tricks. I don't feel like it was the "spectacle" it could have been, but more bare bones presentation. I think given a great sound and lighting designer, this show could run NON-STOP! So fun.

So much fun!

Campy, silly and over the top. It's not Sweeney Todd or Little Shop of Horrors (both of which we consider masterpieces), but this 90-minute musical was lots of fun. It was obvious the audience (even or maybe especially the ones in the first few rows that were being splattered with blood and body parts) were enjoying themselves immensely. The voices of all three leading male actors were impressive, especially the one of Dr. Hill, who has had leading roles in many regional opera companies as well as doing musical comedy. Can't wait to see the professional reviews from the press, which seemed to be there in some numbers last night.

a great musical and adaptation of the movie. why is this not on Broadway yet? can't wait for 'Bride of Re-Animator'

This is the most fun since Rocky Horror, great performances from the entire cast, brilliant writing, songs you can't get out of your head. Be ready to laugh your ass off. My 7th time, and I'm going back for more!!! Sit in the front if you dare, Go see it!

As usual, Stuart Gordon rocks! I've been a fan of his ever since I saw "Warp" in Chicago 40 years ago. This is a must see musical. Only criticism is the music could be a few db lower as I sometimes didn't hear the words.

Took my 12 yr. old for our 3rd time. It was even better than before. Laughed harder than the first two times. Thoroughly enjoyed the blood bath. The cast is fantastic. Great Lyrics. We can't wait for a cast recording.

What a scream! Be sure to wear old clothes to the theater, it's a bloodbath!

great mixture of visuals and comedy. The acting and singing was good. It was much better than I anticipated. I'd recommend this play/musical.

Fun! I would probably give it a three but the almost sold out audience had such a truly good time that I don't want people to miss out because of my tepid review. Re-Animator, the musical is like a schlocky midnite movie that everyone goes to have a good time at and ignores all its failings. In this case as a theatrical experience the failing are many; poor direction, a cast that is not exceptional in any way, a third rate set, lackluster score, and a total lack style. But when the blood starts spurting a good time is had by all.

Fun!Fun!Fun!....the atmosphere is loose, let your hair down, dig in & and have a groooovy time!! And be prepared to eat some BLOOD!!!

Really fun show. Be prepared to laugh! Probably younger audiences will like it better. Half of the audience had seen it before and had returned to see it again. Excellent performances, fun shtick and an overall good time!

I'm not a big fan of musicals but I'm now a fan of horror musical comidies. I had no idea what to expect but this exceded anything I could have imagened. It was a ball and a half. The audience reaction to splash zone was hilarious.

Lots of fun and well cast despite the fact that none of the songs are particularly memorable. Rachel Avery (Megan Halsey) stands out by easily being the best singer in the cast. Plot wise, follows the film closely, but plays it more for laughs than scares.

I am amazed that the LA Weekly awarded this show with "Best Musical". The music is completely forgettable, the direction almost non-existent, the set/lighting uninspired, and the cast -- almost uniformly weak. It was one of the most disappointing theatre experiences I have had in years.

I contrast this lame production with a terrifically entertaining parody musical of the horror film genre called "Evil Dead - The Musical" which I saw in Toronto in 2009. A terrific setting in a Cabin in the Woods, clever songs/lyrics that roasted the horror genre. And a splash zone that had AMPLE spilling of blood and gore on the screaming patrons. I note on the Evil Dead website that no production has yet come to LA. (Google: Evil Dead: The Musical) THAT would be worth seeing if it did. Until then, save your money (And thank God I went on a $5 preview ticket which means the pain of the off-key singing, unintelligible lyrics, and terrible stage direction could be justified as "worth" the price I paid.)

It was so funny and crazy!

Jekyll and Hyde meet Frankenstein at a Blue Men extravaganza and all hell breaks out. Lots of laughs, great voices, good timing. A fun evening!

More fun if you sit in front rows as I did. Loved it! I felt like in Disneyland. I would recommend this play to all my friends.

It's "Re-Animator the Musical," which says it all. Silly, gross and fun. This may not be the heir to the "Little Shop of Horrors" throne to which it appears to be aspiring (though it could be with a healthy splash of old fashioned Broadway slick on it), but it's a good time!

Fun ridiculous show. performers were all great. Fake blood and vomit projected out over the first few rows of audience so sit back a bit. Hefty bags worn by the people it the front did not protect their clothes! Ruined.

Hilarious, gory fun! Rush to see it. Great for fans of the movie and complete newcomers alike.

Absolutely fantastic! Creative, hilarious , amazingly well written music and great acting. But the effects and spray zone were the best. Part musical, part vaudeville, part puppet show. This little production is a MUST SEE for anyone who likes a fun night out.

Great show. Strong opening, great songs! Super funny. I absolutely loved it. If you don't want to be splashed sit 5th row or beyond. The actors who played Herbert West and Dr. Hill were absolutely outstanding. Whether your a fan of musical theater or all things Stuart Gordon, this is a must see!
