Two iconic American rock groups will share the stage at the Fabulous Forum this summer as Cheap Trick joins Boston for their "Heaven on Earth" tour. Known for their killer pop hooks, Boston sold millions during the '70s and '80s with their catchy version of prog rock. Their self-titled debut was one of the fastest-selling pop debuts in history, spawning three hit singles that became American classics: "More Than a Feeling," "Long Time" and "Peace of Mind." At the same time, Cheap Trick was perfecting the delicate balance between power pop and hard rock that made them a major influence on future punk, metal and alternative bands. Songs like "I Want You to Want Me," "Surrender" and "Dream Police," along with their dynamic live performances, sealed their reputation as arena rock gods. Now, 40 years into their careers, the two bands are still going strong. The "Heaven on Earth" tour is traveling the country in support of Boston's sixth studio album release, Life, Love & Hope, and this is one of a select few appearances where Cheap Trick will be performing with them. The night began great, we found street parking less than a block from the event. We walked up to the door and our name was on the will call list. They also had tickets to another event the end of the month @ House of Blues. Getting a drink was fast as they hardly had anyone buying drinks (one good thing of this being 18 over). The downstairs area to sit was all taken so we headed upstairs, we actually ended up being happier upstairs as we had great views and the bathrooms upstairs did not have long lines. The first to bands to perform were ok, but the last band was awesome, the singer knew how to get the crowd started. People were up and dancing, unfortunately the security that was working there was not trying to allow them to dance. Security was way to aggressive with some of the people dancing in the pit. When the show ended one short little guy socked one of the security guards in the nose with a bottle, at that point chaos erupted. A lot of the guys that had been kicked out must have been outside waiting for there friends and so they started throwing beer bottles @ the doors. Security was still trying to have people leave thru those doors, freaking IDIOTS, talk about throwing us into the lions den. These guys were pissed @ security not at other concert goers. Finally they let everyone leave thru a side door and I heard they had called the cops. Sucks that a good concert was ruined by overly aggressive security guards.
