In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

CATCH THE EDINBURGH VERSION OF THIS HILARIOUS PERFORMANCE BEFORE IT LEAVES
LOS ANGELES!
This is the full length performance of Regretrosexual but there will not be full sets.

In his 2005 one-person play, Regretrosexual, Dan Rothenberg made the most of his bizarre and hilarious true story. The show received rave reviews and audiences howled with laughter but all asked one question: “So, did he get the girl?”

Hence the exciting birth of Regretrosexual – The Love Story. Dan revisits his two years as a gay man in San Francisco but now must explain those years to the woman he loves – face to face. They’re a perfect match, they have revealed every crazy and embarrassing detail of themselves and it has only brought them closer. But is this the one detail that sends Colleen over the edge and leaves Dan with nothing but the truth?

A stand-up comedian since 1997, Dan Rothenberg’s quirky issues and infectious likeability have fueled his career leading to his recent performance on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. Dan can also be seen on numerous shows including NBC’s Late Friday. Dan performs all over the world and has also opened for Richard Lewis, Lewis Black, Robin Williams, George Lopez, and many more.

Added to the cast is the brilliant actor and sketch comedian, Colleen Crabtree who brings to life all the hilarious, zany and heartwarming characters that brought Dan to her. Colleen also happens to be Dan’s wife and the woman of whom this story is written, as well as a stand-up comedian. She was a semi-finalist in Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots competition, and was first runner up in the 2006 California’s Funniest Female Contest. Today she performs regularly as a club feature act. This spring, Colleen will appear as the lead in the feature film Opposite Day where she plays the wife of Pauly Shore.

Rounding out this creative trio is director Richard Kuhlman. Kuhlman has been a Los Angeles actor and director for the last 23 years. His production of Inspecting Carol opened at Theatre150 in Ojai this December. Among the many shows Richard has directed is the Ovation Award nominated, Non Vital Organs and the long running Cheerios in My Underwear and Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead. Richard currently teaches Improvisation at the Second City Training Center in L.A. and Columbia College Hollywood.
