An African-American attorney with a successful career discovers she has an Iraqi half-sister she never knew about in award-winning playwright Wendy Graf's latest work. This hard-hitting drama about family conflict and clashing cultures stars L.A Weekly and NAACP Award-winner Diarra Kilpatrick as up-and-coming corporate attorney Julie Dolan, whose carefully constructed life begins to crumble when she meets her half-sister Neyla. Neyla, a violinist, has fled Iraq to audition for Julliard, but Julie suspects there is more to her story. Graf's fresh spin on racial relations gives each of its characters their own voice and point of view as they navigate in a world that has become interconnected and multicultural on every level. This improv comedy troupe adds stripping to the zany characters and situations of the sketches they put together. This adds a sexy and dangerous element that makes the comedy more fun. As a man, however, I wish there were more women than men, but that's a minor complaint.
Quotes & Highlights
- "A continual source of enjoyment for the audience thoughout the night." --The GoodTimes
- "Risqué, definitely high-risk improv...with bumps and grinds so skillful that the Chippendales could take lessons." --The Sentinel
- "A raucous, hilarious performance that challenges conventional notions of theater and performance art." --The Santa Cruz Guide

ScripTease, the World's only stripping improv troupe, now into its 9th year of producing high-risk, risque improv comedy, was founded by and Johnny Davis & Sara Lovelady in Santa Cruz, California. They wanted to "up the stakes" by instigating consequences for their actions. They also wanted to introduce and lure people into the live theater who don't consider themselves "theater-goers." So they came up with stripping improv.
The troupe encourages the audience to hang out in the lounge with them after the show to have some wine, beer and refreshments while often times groovin' out to a live musical guest.
ScripTease is very proud of their benefit work for many causes such as the Second Harvest Food Bank, funding for brain tumor research, aid to numerous 9/11 charities, and fund raising to keep local small theaters running.
Over the years ScripTease has had many Teasers leave their laundry on stages all over Northern California. And now the Los Angeles Teasers are ready to scatter their scivies onto the stages of Southern California.
