Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00
Our Price:
$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

A fun night. I won't go into the details since it is a mystery and I don't want to ruin the end. It was a bit long and drawn out but certainly a good time. Actors were very funny and a joy to watch.

The event is a lot of fun and Sharpo and his crew do a good job at bringing the audience into the action. It's amazing how well they remember names of people they only spent a few minutes talking to before the show. The food at El Cid is ok though, but for what you spend considering it includes the show, the value is good. The restuarant (where the show is held) get a bit warm, so keep that in mind if you're someone who gets warm easily.

I took my sister for her birthday. We all had fun. Food was actually pretty good, I was expecting some not so great food since the main reason for the dinner was for the show:) From what I hear the show changes every month so we are definitely gonna try to catch another one. We were completely clueless figuring out whodunnit. But we definitely enjoyed it and you do have to get there and mingle to meet all the characters!

After reading some of the review (particularly on CitySearch about the cockroaches) I was concerned. I am happy to report that there were no roaches in site and for the most part we had a really nice time. We didn't order drinks, so can't comment on that, but the food was pretty decent (really liked the filet mignon) if not just a bit overly peppered. Street parking was not bad at all (we were like a block away) and you can stop feeding the meter at 8pm which is just in time. It was raining on the day we went, so unfortunately the inside was insanely crowded and no one was seated for dinner until about 8:20 pm. Also, I know the other reviews said to come early, but maybe because it was so crowded on the inside we didn't have a single actor speak to us before we were seated. Other people at our table had, but no luck for us. The show was fun though. Some good laughs!
