Winner of the 1967 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance is a sharp, witty examination of a dysfunctional American family. Agnes and Tobias, a long-married suburban couple, find the delicate balance of their existence threatening to topple when they wind up with a house full of uninvited guests, including an alcoholic sister, an adult daughter fresh off her fourth marriage, and two lifelong friends seeking sanctuary from an unnamed terror. Pushed to their breaking point, the couple's many well-mannered and well-masked feelings finally erupt. Two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Susan Sullivan (Castle) and David Selby (Dark Shadows) star in this searing work, directed by Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award winner Robin Larsen. This was a very entertaining mash up of Sherlock Holmes and Alice in Wonderland. he actors were uniformly excellent, particularly Sherlock. The structure of the play followed a melodramatic mystery with an intervening dream sequence. The dream sequence in particular was cleverly done. The story line followed in some respects the life of Charles Dodgson aka Lewis Carroll, and elements of his life were cleverly incorporated into the story, with fictional extensions which provided the drama. Well worth seeing

I am a Sherlock Holmes devotee so I was looking forward to seeing this play. It was not the typical Sherlock Holmes. It was somewhat confusing. However, the acting was marvelous. The cast made excellent use of a minimal stage set.
