Description
In the days leading up to the French revolution, an American whaler captivates the minds of the king and queen with fantastical stories of ghosts, monsters of the deep and democracy.
Will Marie Antoinette's machinations save her head and the head of the king? Will this prophet from the new world convince Louis XVI to cede power to the peasants? Will a whale cause the fall of the French monarchy? At Versailles, alliances are made and broken with a whisper and nothing is what it seems, as all of France stands a drumbeat away from anarchy.
Tom Jacobson's more than 50 productions around the country include Tainted Blood (The Road Theatre Company), Cyberqueer (Celebration Theatre), The Beloved Disciple (The Complex) and the upcoming The Orange Grove (Playwrights Arena), Conserving Melissa (Renegade Theatre Experiment) and Ouroboros (The Road Theatre Company). Mr. Jacobson is the co-literary manager at The Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasadena and was a literary manager at Celebration Theatre for nine years. About the Ticket Supplier: Circle X Theatre Company
Since its inception in 1996, Circle X has produced over twenty full length plays, twelve of them world premieres. Several have been West Coast premieres, and still others fall into the category of "rarely seen" work. In addition to the mainstage, Circle X continues to develop plays and playwrights through its monthly reading series and project development sessions. Circle X is constantly seeking new work to develop, while nourishing relationships with the playwrights who have helped to bring the company to where it is today.
