In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

Dark and quirky humor and characters; enjoyed the interaction of the cast with the "animals". Wished there'd been more. Go see for yourself.Written on Oct 24 2011

I went to this without any idea what to expect. It's an absurdist noir comedy that is played very well by all involved. Although I think it could have worked just as well if the performances were just a little more subtle, I still had a very good time.Written on Oct 24 2011

Description
The company that brought you Bad Seed takes on Charles Ludlam's classic hilarious suspense thriller! Pirannhas. Mute parrots. Mysterious drifters. Yep, right up their alley.
Chester Nurdiger lives in the back of his pet shop with his mother and his bored wife. One day a drifter comes along, and they hire him to work in the shop. Sparks are ignited between the bored wife Roxanne and the slick Zachary Slade. They plot to murder Chester and feed him to the piranhas.
