In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

This is a great play. Well written and directed. The roll of Wanda and Al were excellent. The other 3 actors were weak and their performance didn't look organic.Written on Jul 27 2010

The production itself was fine even if the set design could have used some degree of thought and care. Vastly more important, though, were the very interesting questions the play brings up around the issue of private adoption.Written on Jul 27 2010

The Baby Dance was an incredible night of theater. The cast was so believable and living the lives of these characters. The writing was so rich and emotional one minute and funny the next. It was so beautifully directed in a small blackbox theater. I enjoyed every moment of this play!Written on Jul 22 2010

The actors were definitely very good in this production but I am not crazy about the script. It didn't leave me feeling like it was complete. It ended kind of abruptly for me. I will give credit again to the actors who manage to convey some very big emotions in such a small space. Good casting but not a very satisfying play.Written on Jul 22 2010
