Wayne is so cool. Played mostly the old album with some new ones thrown in, but its always all about having fun and and letting go with The Flaming Lips. Fun crowd. The Greek is my favorite LA venue, besides the bowl.

The show started out great; that vagina thing was pretty clever. But the rest of the show was a tad lackluster in some spots. It seemed as if the more boring songs were dragged out too long, while the great songs were kept short and terse. They have too much good material to need to drag out boring stuff to kill time. My biggest beef was the injection of Wayne's political views. I don't care what side of the fence you're on - a concert is a happy place, and is no place for anti-Bush/pro-Obama statements. Bush, by the way, has been gone since January; leave him be. The real highlight for me was the opening act, Ghostland Observatory. They completely blew me away, and guess what? No political statements were needed on their part.

Amazing show, I was so excited to see tickets on Goldstar I didn't even hesitate purchasing them. I love the Greek because even when you're in the very back, your not all that far away.

Description

The Flaming Lips visit the Greek Theatre as part of a two-week summer trek. Ghostland Observatory along with Stardeath and White Dwarfs will be supporting.

The concert will take place right before the expected fall release of the band's new double album, Embryonic. Embryonic, tentatively due later this year, will be The Flaming Lips’ first double album. The set was recorded at studios in Fredonia, NY, and the group's hometown, Oklahoma City, OK, with longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann. A press release from Warner Bros. says the record, “…just may be their most sonically adventurous and compositionally vernal form of musical expression ever.”

Be one of the first to witness The Flaming Lips performing their new songs from Embryonic live when the psychedelic rocker veterans come to the Greek Theatre!
