In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

Well where to start ? The gay Mafia is a smaLL group of actors with lots of energy and good intentions... The experience is like "Ok, Judy we will show everyone and put on our own show !!" The hour long show could use some editing and quicker pacing. The skits ranged from very funny to almost embarassingly unfunny. This is really small theatre and I kept wishing we would get a sense of who the performers were but ,alas the masks were on and solidly opaque.Written on Jan 17 2008

Overall, this was an incredibly weak show. Very unpolished and not very funny at all. The women were pretty funny at times, however the men were NEVER funny. I went with a party of four, and we were all terribly disappointed.Written on Jan 17 2008

Description

An innovative and groundbreaking theater company, The Gay Mafia is the first of its kind in L.A. and has proved provocatively funny for gay and straight alike. The Gay Mafia has had its share of controversy with its take-no-prisoner style comedy, skewering everything from Ted Haggard and Mary Cheney, to the war on terror, lesbian space aliens, and retired gay Navy Seals.
