Ring in the New Year with the silk-and-diamond decadence of The Great Gatsby as Baz Lurhmann's best films spring to life during this spectacular New Year's Eve party. Begin your stylish evening with a three-course dinner, followed by a performance of the popular show For the Record: Baz Luhrmann, featuring powerhouse performers from music, stage and screen reenacting iconic scenes and songs from Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Strictly Ballroom and The Great Gatsby. After the show, Rockwell will be transformed into a Gatsby-style 1920s' retreat. Listen to live music while enjoying the delicious buffet and glass of champagne included in the ticket price. If you'd prefer to skip the seated dinner and show and commence straight to partying the night away, the VIP Party Only option takes place in Rockwell's dazzling second-floor VIP salon decorated Gatsby style, where you can enjoy the buffet, a champagne toast, a balloon drop and live music. I always love the Gispy Kings. The crowd was great and even some of my Meet-up members were able to sit together by making arrangements through GoldStar. The seats were middle section about 60% of the way up...but there are no bad seats at the Greek. Excellent!
Over the years, the Gipsy Kings—who hail from the gypsy settlements in Arles and Montpelier in the south of France—have included singers and guitarists from the Reyes and Baliardo families. Lead singer Nicolas Reyes is the son of famed Flamenco singer José Reyes. As a result, the band's vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals are highly influenced by the indigenous musical tradition known as rumba flamenca.
The Gipsy Kings have won a global audience over purely by the music and the big, welcoming soulfulness of its creators. Since the 1987 release of the international hit single "Bamboleo," the Gipsy Kings have sold more than 14 million albums worldwide with more than four million in the United States alone. They are one of the most popular non-English performing groups in the states where their recordings and live performances continue to earn critical and popular praise.
Over two decades into their career, the Gipsy Kings' sound continues to evolve and remains vital. The group has released 15 albums with Pasajero as their most recent. The Gipsy Kings continue to showcase how they make music as communion with artistry rooted in the past yet focused on the future.
