The Grand Duchess
By Jacques Offenbach
The enchanting Frederica von Stade stars as the Grand Duchess, as Hollywood legend Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries) makes his operatic debut.
When the impulsive Grand Duchess sets her sights on a handsome young soldier, she decides that all is fair in love and war. The Grand Duchess melds an effervescent operetta score with sharp comedy in a lively, delightful new adaptation of one of Offenbach’s most popular works.
Offenbach’s giddy souffle of inspired lunacy stars Paul Groves as the unwitting object of the Grand Duchess’ affections. Meanwhile Rod Gilfry, Anthony Laciura and John Cheek are the thwarted rivals who plot to bring down their adversary.
