Members Who Went Said:Legendary Beatles' producer, Sir George Martin, got a chance to tell his story - from military days, to his first job at EMI, graduating to head of Paralophone records, working with Peter Sellers, Sophia Loren, Dudley Moore and others; and his discovery of rock's most famous group. Along the way he helped to write musical arrangements (Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby), develop the group's sound, record, produce and play on their records. Truly, the Fifth Beatle.
GE It was an amazing experience. The acoustics in the hall were a bit echoey. Combined with Sir George's accent, it took a little extra effort to follow him the entire time. Having the president of the Grammy Foundation come on AFTER the main talk in order to plug the sponsors was a bit cheesy and anticlimactic. That should have been done before Sir George's talk. Otherwise, it really was an incredible evening. |
