12th Annual Brazilian Carnaval: Exotica at Club Nokia
- Full Price:
- $42.50
- Our Price:
- $21.00
Known for being the largest Carnaval celebration on the West Coast, the 12th annual Brazilian Carnaval transforms Club Nokia into a Brazilian dance party with authentic music, dance, costuming, parading, drink and food. Carnaval is the most anticipated holiday in Brazil, a chance to let loose and dance the night away before the beginning of Lent. The club will be infused with the true Latin party spirit, sensuality and flavors, featuring an all-star band of acclaimed international musicians curated by Chalo Eduardo (who has performed with Santana and Ricky Martin) playing classic Carnaval hits. DJ Chris Brazil spins additional Brazilian dance music and the band SambaDa brings its high-energy percussion, danceable grooves and visually dynamic show to the Carnaval stage. Learn More

Description
Parlor Performances at Steinway Hall presents its series "On a Humorous Note: Evenings with America's Wittiest Songwriters," featuring The Prince Myshkins.
The Prince Myshkins (Rick Burkhardt, accordion, and Andy Gricevich, guitar) have been playing together since 1995, their ornate lyrics, unruly harmonies and light-speed delivery garnering rave reviews from critics, audiences and fellow musicians across the U.S. As the new millennium’s profusion of satirizable events reaches pandemic proportions, the Prince Myshkins are working tirelessly to bring satire into the 21st century with cabaret-tinged tunes like “The Doctor Laura Polka,” “Freedom Poodle Rides Again,” “Girlie Men” and “Ministry of Oil.”
The Prince Myshkins cut their teeth as resident satirists at KPBS San Diego, producing songs heard on NPR’s “Morning Edition” and Pacifica Radio’s “Democracy Now!” Sharing stages nationwide with such folk heroes as David Rovics, George Shrub, Charlie King, Roy Zimmerman, and Lou and Peter Berryman, the Prince Myshkins have never lost sight of their ultimate goal: making their own material obsolete.
