If I had half star options, I probably would have given it 3.5 rather than 4. There was one point in particular that I thought it was REALLY slow and lingered too long on the slow-mo scene, but it didn't really lose my attention either, so it's not a major complaint.Written on Mar 19 2009

Absolutely exquisite!!! Amazing creativity, skill, passion -- everything you could want in a production!!! (... except there was too much smoke. Such a rich, gorgeous production could stand on its own without it.) I really hope this show takes off, though, because it truly deserves to be a huge success.Written on Mar 19 2009

Quotes & Highlights
- "Beboppy exuberance and innocent cool...well danced." --Los Angeles Times
- "Productions like Susan Stroman's Tony-winning Contact and Matthew Bourne's The Car Man have shown how powerfully and effectively contemporary dance can tell dramatic stories without a single spoken word being uttered. To that list can now be added JT Horenstein's The Question." --StageSceneLA.com
- "If you like dynamic, high energy theatre have we got a show for you!" --ReviewPlays.com
Description
<p>The Question is a full-length story-driven theatre piece entirely danced to a progressive, independent rock score. This gripping story is based upon the author’s experiences while sitting on a jury for a first degree murder trial; certain questions came to mind: What really happened on the night leading up to the murder? Who else could have been involved? What complexities did the accused really endure on that fate-changing evening? And how much has this experience changed so many people’s lives? After this particular foreman’s service was fulfilled, the U.S. justice system took on an entirely different gravity.</p> <p>In The Question, an ensemble of 26 re-lives this dramatic tale, masterfully revealing all evidence for the truth to finally be known: bodies and music being the only devices on which to rely.</p> <p>An emotional meltdown, a steamy shower, an anonymous lap dance, a crushing proposal, a speeding bullet, an unexpected murder and a drug induced night resulting in a baby on the way: These are the events leading up to a trial by jury with one disgruntled juror, the deciding vote and an entirely shocked courtroom. The defendant then journeys from trial to sentencing and aftermath. The entire company performs a heavenly finale where they lead one pair of star-crossed lovers to birth their baby and another to take their love to new heights: "I need you so much closer."</p> <p>The decision is made. The stage is bare. Light falls dim. The future is now the past. It all began with one little question...</p> <p>Musical artists include Inara George, Jamie Cullum, Yoav, Sean Hayes, Sigur Rós, The Faint, Feist, Death Cab for Cutie, and Korn featuring Amy Lee. </p>
