World of Theater Explored in The Fool and the Red Queen

Full Price:

In the latest comic meditation from renowned playwright Murray Mednick, The Fool and the Red Queen experiments with archetypes to explore human nature and the processes of theater. A struggling actor named Gary finds himself at a nightmarish audition where the audience discovers the magical ability of the theater to create new realities -- in this case, a darkly funny and improvised play-within-a-play similar to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Marie and Bruce. Driven by poetic impulse rather than linear storytelling, The Fool and the Red Queen is a ruefully funny, lyrical look at the theater and the natural elements that drive us all. Learn More

Go soon! Only 2 more weeks for this little jewel. It's sweet, funny and the music is toe-tapping, tender, and truthful. The regular Friday Bowling Night "release" is a kick, yet when building is in trouble, the Rose Bowl Queens and their men spring into action- a well-oiled machine- and get it all spiffed up. The show is brilliantly written, thoughtfully directed and beautifully cast. I loved Sparky's terrible jokes. The choreography complimented the beauty and inventiveness of the songs. Country music fans are not the only ones who will love this.

The show was an unexpected find. The theater is in a strange little spot and feels smaller than it is - but the performances were excellent and the music was rousing. The Rose Bowl Queens was way above the usual fare for the tiny off-the-wall theater, and I highly recommend it.
