With a budget that's about $65 million less than that other Spider-Man musical, The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility arrives in Los Angeles after a successful New York run that proved you don't need boatloads of dough and U2 to pull off an entertaining superhero production. This original story from veteran humorist Justin Moran explores how social outcast Peter Parker takes on an alter ego to defeat a dastardly collection of villains. The play features catchy tunes from experienced Broadway composers Adam Podd and Doug Katsaros, and more importantly, a DIY ethos from everyone involved that makes this an underdog to cheer for.

Studio/Stage's production of "The Spidey Project" was well made.Written on Mar 19 2012
Initially I thought it was going to be a shoddy production because I, nor I believe anybody else, could hear the actor performing as anchorman "Kent Hollbrook" over the music. In hindsight (and given the parody aspect) this may have been intentional.
The group performing overall worked well together and the actor playing Peter Parker/Spiderman was both a pleasure and delight. His ability to use the stage as his own play room was both impressive and fun to watch.
Overall the "low-budget" work of this particular Spiderman production was what truly stole the show. Spidey jumping from building to building received the biggest laughs.
I highly recommend this production and the entire lot at Studio/Stage receives high marks for a wonderful time.

This is a great acting ensemble. They were having as much fun as the audience. You can't' describe how clever this show is...you just have to see it. With great talent comes great responsibility!Written on Mar 19 2012
