Unusual theatre in that it is about old people on the verge of death. But it is anything but morbid--moving, insightful, gripping, great character study. And it gives some outstanding older actors a chance to shine. The dialogue is lively, sharp, and spot on. The story is about a couple who are facing terminal disease and impending death and decide on a suicide pact. But the structure is fascinating. This basic incident is lived differently by three couples who are the SAME couple. In one, a bitter wife's husband committed suicide on his own. In another, a bitter wife and her long-suffering husband struggle to get on the same page about ending their lives. In the third, a bright, energetic and strong wife helps her loving husband face death on their own terms. The play suggests that fate is not doom, and that by small changes that would not make them somebody different, people can live their lives in very different ways. My only problem was that some lines were spoken too softly--a problem for an older audience! Well worth seeing, this play has promise to endure and be staged again in many places. Henry Murray is a local playwright and has another hit!
