Description
In celebration of the first-day issue of the Henry Mancini Commemorative Stamp and Mancini's 80th birthday, a concert will be performed at the new Walt Disney Concert Hall. Guests will be greeted by musical ensembles from the Henry Mancini Institute as they ascend the Mancini staircase to the concert Hall. The concert will be co-hosted by U.S. Senator John Glenn and Julie Andrews, both long-time friends of the Mancini family. The Henry Mancini Institute Alumni Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director, Patrick Williams, will be joined by Michael Feinstein, Lady Jeanne and Sir James Galway, Quincy Jones, Monica Mancini, Ray Pizzi, Andy Williams and John Williams. The program will feature the music of Mancini, along with special "Mancini Moments" as friends reminisce about their special times with Mancini and his music. The audience will also see selected film clips. Proceeds will benefit the Henry Mancini Institute.
