Amazing evening with so many young talents. The food is delicious especially the Mahi Mahi. Parking at the BOA parking lot across the street was ultra convenient and safe with the attendant diligently watching over the lot. Thank you, Goldstar!Written on Dec 14 2009

Description
Upright Cabaret is a wildly popular Los Angeles night of song featuring an eclectic mix of artists from stage, record and screen. Cabaret is synonymous with New York City, but in sunny southern California Producer/Hosts Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel have turned cabaret into a hip and contemporary social swirl of young Broadway and Hollywood.
In the Golden Age of entertainment, Hollywood supper clubs like the Coconut Grove hosted all of the great stars of the day and helped define an era of style and sophistication that Hollywood was famous for. This was also a time when Hollywood stars could sing, act, dance and most importantly…entertain.
Upright Cabaret has successfully reclaimed that era against a modern day backdrop of paparazzi, glitz and glamour in one of the hottest neighborhoods in the City of Angels.
Upright Cabaret boasts one of the most extensive and diverse rosters of talent in the country. Broadway divas, talented troubadours, cabaret legends, Hollywood notables, pop sensations and many future sensations have all found their way to the Upright stage.
April 1 and 13, 2010 at 9:00pm: Spencer Day
Vocalist-songwriter-pianist Spencer Day is an artistic vagabond, a modern-day musical nomad. Born in Utah, raised in rural Arizona, currently living in Los Angeles with extended residencies in New York and San Francisco, Day has called many places home. Along the way, he has wandered amid the expansive and diverse landscape of American music, developing an artistic sensibility that borrows from numerous sources: jazz, musical theater, cabaret, soul, folk, traditional pop and contemporary pop are just the tip of the iceberg. Day uses intuition and improvisation as his primary tools to craft a sound that is traditional and familiar, yet fresh and innovative at the same time, creating a blend too subtle to parse into neatly defined categories. Vagabond, his new release and his first on Concord Jazz, cements his reputation as a balladeer for the new century whose creative voice is distilled from the best elements of the previous one.
April 2 and 3, 2010 at 10:00pm: Jimmy James
Jimmy James' Impressionism features a retrospective of his many famous vocal impressions, including Cher, Madonna, Judy Garland, Billie Holiday, Bette Davis, Stevie Nicks, Eartha Kitt, Diana Ross and the king himself, Elvis. As an added bonus, James will perform songs from his new album, Jamestown.
