Though Howie Mandel has been in show business for more than 30 years, his celebrity status hasn't faded. In fact, it's going stronger than ever. He's the Emmy-nominated host of Deal or No Deal, a judge on America's Got Talent, author of bestselling memoir Here's the Deal: Don't Touch Me and host of FOX's new hidden-camera flash-mob show Mobbed. It's a little-known fact that Mandel started his career on a dare, when he took the stage at an open mic night and was immediately discovered by a TV producer, which led to a series of stand-up appearances followed by six years as a regular cast member on St. Elsewhere. Mandel also had an Emmy-nominated animated children's series, Bobby's World, which ran for eight seasons on FOX. He was a go-to fill-in host for Regis on Live with Regis and Kelly, and he can also be seen regularly doing hidden camera bits on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Learn More

Cool spin: Literate (especially the 3 women), fun w/ DJ soundtrack, and great space. All-around "Goldstar" eclectic.

POSSIBLY NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE UNDER 18 - DEPENDING ON THE MATERIAL OF THE EVENING!!!

Six writers read their stories - all written in 1st person- along with underscore by an on-stage DJ. I brought my mother (a very young 75), an actor/director friend (55), and my son (a very mature 14).

All four of us agreed that the first 5 stories were, for the most part, entertaining and fun - we had some good laughs! Unfortunately, the 6th story was unnecessarily crude (sexually) and not at all funny to any of us. We are artists who also support the arts and are not easily offended. However, all of us thought the last piece was inappropriate and put a very low-class end to an otherwise enjoyable evening. I almost grabbed my 14 year old and walked out, except that it would have embarrassed HIM because we were in the second row. Still, I wish I had. In fact, we ALL wish we had.

To be fair, I had contacted the producer (when I saw the event listed) to ask about content. I suspected there might be "adult themes" but didn't see any reviews that mentioned questionable content. I didn't hear back for quite some time, and I purchased the tickets. I should have waited or tried again to contact him. When I finally received a reply, he said that 5 stories would rate about a "PG-13", and one story would rate "R". Unfortunately, I had purchased the tickets a few weeks prior to that. After seeing the show, I agree with his rating - it was a VERY crude "R" - but I appreciate that he responded.

Art is art, but please.... one would think the producer would not include content that is inappropriate (whatever your age), compared with the rest of the production. It was a decent story that was ruined by its over-the-top, very crass nature.

The DJ was quick, fun, and creative, though the constant underscore (music) was a little distracting at times for me. An occasional silence might have been more effective.

Small space, folding chairs in rows facing a slightly elevated stage. Performers and audience very casual. Parking is tough, great gelato place right around the corner.

Tiny gallery, very intimate, with wonderful, funny, touching, personal stories read by the authors. This was a great evening much enhanced by the talented DJ. My wife has told all her writing group friends.

Tinny little theater, full of people, no A/C... Out of 5 comedians, 2 were pretty good... others used a lot of profanity to compensate for their lack of... being funny. Free wine and drinks... so that part was cool, i guess. Cheaper than the Laugh Factory... so, i guess overall it was a "different" way to spend an evening... an alternative to the movie theater.
