This line-up had some of the best comedy around. You gotta love Tenacious D; Sarah Silverman is quirky and makes you cringe. Love it!
Eddie Izzard is an acquired taste. And although it was a long night (3hrs plus intermission) this night was very memorable and fun!

The event was great! My friends and I got to see awesome comedians (Eddie Izzard, Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Tenacious D and Andy Dick). We had great seats, for an even better price. And the best part was, all the money went to benefit the Writer's Strike.

Overall it was funny and well done, but it was too long for me to handle on a Friday night after a long work day. Jack Black was disappointing and even though Eddie was hilarious his final set lasted too long. By 11pm I was slapping myself to stay awake (that could also be because I sat in literally the back row).
Would I do it again? Absolutely, it was an overall good time and it was for a good cause.

Found out at this gig I'm not a Sarah Silverman fan - everyone else was great - esp Eddie Izzard.

I wouldn't walk across the street to see Andy Dick. He was off topic & crude. Sarah Silverman was too, but at least it was a funny crude. Patton Oswald, Jack Black with Tenacious D, and above all, Eddie Izzard were fabulous.

There were five acts, but only 2 were worthwhile/great. Patton and Eddie were outstanding and had they been the only two acts on the line-up this event would get a 4 star plus rating.
The problem was the other three acts. Patton went first and Eddie went last - which meant sitting through three acts that ranged from uninteresting (Sarah Silverman and Jack Black) to insufferable (Andy Dick). It was like I paid twice for the show - once in $ and then having to sit through the three lousy acts - I was falling asleep.
The reason the event gets two stars is I split between 4 stars for Patton and Eddie and 0 stars for the other three.

I felt so lucky to see so many of my favorite comedy stars on the same stage at once! What a great cause and a spectacular event! Royce Hall is also a beautiful venue if you've never been there. I bought the tickets right when I got the email from Goldstar Events, so my seats could not have been better!

The Write Aid Benefit performance to support the striking screenwriters was fabulous and funny. All the artists were razor sharp with Eddie Izzard topping the group. A laugh riot for a great cause!

Although the performers obviously meant well, performing in a benefit for the striking writers, I am sorry, but except for the unknown gentleman (I am familiar with Silverman, Izzard, and Black), they all relied upon filthy language (which I do not mind if it is used appropriately!) and references to fucking, fucking, fucking. My God. I thought I had a potty mouth! Not at all, it seems! Where was the wit? Where was any intellect at all? I laughed, once, at something the unknown fourth person said on stage, but the other 3, forget it. Man, do those people need their writers! Whoa! Somebody should stop them before they get up on stage again with no writers!!!!

Eddie Izzard is and always has been my favorite but I felt all the performers on Friday night were exceptional. I really felt that they went out of their way to suport the writers and it made me compelled to want to do the same. I think they are doing extraordinary work!

The event was for a good cause. I felt Eddie Izzard was by far the best MC and comedian at the event. The others (especially Sarah) I found to be a bit too racy...Overall it was a good experience. It was a bit long, most people left well before the 2nd act.

I absolutely adore Eddie Izzard and I felt so lucky to get to hear so much of his material. He was just terrific. I didn't think that some of the other comedians were of his caliber -- Andy Dick was particularly weak and unfunny -- but all in all the evening was a rousing success. It was genius to have Eddie MC the evening, he did an incredible job!

I had a really great time until after the intermission and Andy Dick came out. He was so terrible and unfunny that people were getting up and walking out. Us included.

Terrific overall, MUCH more "blue" than I anticipated, but a bonafide blast. First half great, second half...uh, not so much!

Eddie Izzard and Tenacious D were fantastic. So funny. Our seats were unbelievable - 7th row! I love Eddie Izzard and couldn't believe that I was so close to him and that he hosted the night. Tenacious D was the greatest in the world - they did not disappoint. Patton Oswalt probably did the best job of being funny and talking about the strike at the same time. He was real and he was real funny! Sarah Silverman and Andy Dick both should have stayed off the stage - luckily, they did not ruin an otherwise hilarious evening. This show was a once in a life time opportunity and I'm so glad I was there! (Now, if my out of work 728 crew member can get some love from this...even better.)

Honestly, I was happy to be there and support the out of work strikers, but the funny moments were few and far between for me. Probably would have been funnier if Andy Dick was slathered in hot oil and thrown into a massive deep fryer.

A good time was had by all, but Andy Dick was not funny, and non essential. The rest of the performers were fun, irreverant and entertaining.
