The acting in Seafarer is top rate. It is a very intense play which deals with major issues using dark humor. Definitely worth seeing.

Wasn't sure what we were in for at the opening scene. This play totally captured my attention in the first five minutes. Loved the acting. Loved the dialogue. Loved everything about this play.

This was an excellent play, quality was what you would see off broadway in New York city, the acting was superb. I dont know how a local rep company like Merrimac does it...everything Ive ever seen here has been wonderful, so that knowing the quality of the theatre Iwill see, I will travel over an hour everytime, because I know it will be worth it.

Description

Nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Play, this hilarious and chilling tale of the sea, Ireland and redemption brings old friends together on Christmas Eve for an all night, liquor-soaked game of poker with damningly high stakes.  Steeped in Irish myth, the play is both darkly funny and surprisingly uplifting.
