This was the first time I attended Medieval Times and I went with a group of 9 people. Everyone had a good time overall. The food was good and the best part was eating with your hands (no utensils) The show was good also.

This is defiantly a great place to take kids! They get to cheer, yell and be themselves the entire duration of the show. Not to mention, they get to eat with their hands!

The employees are very attentive and are always in plain site should you need anything.

Souvenir prices are a high; they try to get you to spend at every turn. Lucky for me I took my niece and could afford $12 for a frozen drink in a cup that lights up and the $20 photo you take when you walk in.

I would certainly bring another kid to this show!

We had a really good time. Adults included. We had a 10 year old, 6 year old, and 2 year old with us and they all loved it. Great place for families and would be good for groups of people as well. Fun to get rowdy and loved eating w/ our hands. :-) Food was very good and were in huge portions so we had plenty to take home. Definitely recommend doing this at least once. They try to stick you though on the pictures and gadgets and stuff. Very expensive.

This was a fun event to attend. This would be a once in a life time experience. If you haven't experience this then you have to at least once in your life. I would recommend a group than a couple for this event. I would not recommend to show up an hour and a half early. We went to the museum and it was educational on devices that were used in the time of torture. It was a short museum, that cost $2 per person. The drinks were ok. I had purchase Sangria to my table when we were in the lobby and they promised to deliver it, which they did, late. A carafe cost $20. That wasn't bad.

I enjoyed cheering on my red knight. He threw carnations to his fans and I caught one. They came around with photos that were taken early in the lobby with the King and your group for $20.

The food was ok. The chicken was dry, the skin was good. The potato was dry also. The garlic bread was good and the apple turnover too.

At the end there was a tip tray for our server.

We had no problem with the tickets. Everything went smoothly.

I went on my birthday, it was really great, a group of us four went and it was our first experience, we all enjoyed it very much, although our (yellow) knight lost but we still had fun cheering on! My next visit will be with my two daughters I’m sure they are going to love the place, the food was great, love the idea of eating with your hand! I certainly enjoyed the falcon flying lose amongst our heads! Great place highly recommended!

I took a friend who'd never heard of Medieval Times and he was grinning from ear to ear by the time we left. We were definitely caught up in the action. The food was plentiful and the staff was courteous. We truly enjoyed ourselves.

Medieval Times is always fun...I hadn't gone in a few years but figured the GoldStar tickets were such a good deal it was worth it.

It was definaly fun and something I would recomend, I just wish I went with a bigger group because that makes it even better.

    - Also don't know if I got bigger or the seats got smaller but we felt VERY squished together.

This event is a lot of fun for everyone. It gives you a good excuse to behave badly. =) The food is surprisingly good for an event such as this. Just be sure to take a bunch of friends or lots of family.

I surprised my husband with tickets to Medieval Times for his birthday. He had been to the one in Florida several times as a kid and also in college, but had never been to the New Jersey location. He was really thrilled when we pulled into the parking lot.

This is one of those events that you get out of it what you put into it. It's a bit cheesy, but really great fun. As my husband said, where else can you wear a paper crown and not feel strange about it?

There is a large free parking lot located outside the venue. Check-in at front door was quick and easy (he had our name on the list). It took a little while to have our tickets issued at the box office. There seemed to be a bit of confusion, but it may have just been a new box office person.

There is stuff to do prior to the dinner and show. You can have your photo taken in costume, visit the dungeon museum, gift shop and get a drink at the bar.

The seating is done quickly and efficiently. If you want to have a small flag to wave with your knight's colors on it, it will cost you $1.00. You can continue to order drinks in the arena and pay by credit card or cash. Be sure to bring cash with you if you want to tip your server at the end of the night.

I'm vegetarian and they served me a nice dish that included hummus, roasted vegetables and rice. I was also able to eat the soup and rolls. Everyone else was served, soup, chicken, ribs, and baked potato. There is an apple pastry and coffee for dessert and you can have water and soda with the meal.

The show is pretty funny with the knights competing in various games and then eventually engaging in sword fighting. Our knight, the black and white knight, did well in challenges but was the first to fall to the evil green knight.

They take your picture when you first walk in with either the king or the princess and then a photo of just your party. They come around during dinner to sell the two photos for $20. Someone also comes around to your table and takes a photo of your party and they sell that photo for $10.

If like Renaissance Festivals, you'll like Medieval Times. If you're looking for a way to spend a night doing something different than just dinner at restaurant, this is the way to go.

One little thing. I made the reservation for a group of 17. I didn't know until I got to the door that large reservations had to pay a tip of $3 per person upfront. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to know.

My 11 year old daughter really loved the show but as an adult I found it a bit slow at times. Definitely a good place to bring the kids though. Just expect to pay through the nose for everything "extra" like the photos they take of you, the pennants to wave for your "knight" and anything to drink beyond the two sodas included in the price. Dinner was good, not fabulous. My only complaint there is that they serve it and clean it up before the show is half over, leaving you with another half of show with nothing to do but watch the horses. Felt a bit rushed and yes, you really have to eat with your hands - not necessarily an easy task as you are served half a chicken. My husband "cheated" and brought plastic utensils for which he was later declared a "witch" by the king of the castle. Overall, very touristy and pricey but the kids love it. Worth it for that alone.

There was no bad seat in the place and it was fun for everyone. The food was great and there was plenty of it. Alcohol was pretty expensive, but that's to be expected. This was the menu:
    unlimited pepsi and diet pepsi,
    vegetable Soup,
    garlic Bread,
    1/2 roasted chicken,
    3 bbq ribs,
    1/2 baked potato,
apple turnover (more like the apple pie at mcdonalds),
    coffee and tea

The show was about 2 hours.

We all had a great time. The service was perfect, the performances were right-on, and the horses and falcon were incredible. Sadly, the house was half-empty. My friends and I agree that this place could become really popular again if they did a monthly Heavy Metal night. Same show, just different soundtrack. You know, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc.

This is the 3rd time we have gone to Medieval times. It is a lot of fun and the food is pretty good. They put on a really good show and you can feel the excitment in the room. Some of the knights are really into it. They do a good job of making you feel like you stepped back in time. All ages will enjoy the experience. We have gone with My parents and they liked it. With friends who enjoyed the experience. And we went with 14 kids for my sons 8th Birthday and they loved it! (especially eating with their hands)

My Boyfriend and I went as an early Valentines Day Treat. We got there about an hour early parking was not that bad. We had to wait on a short line to get our tickets but that wasn't too bad. My boyfriend wanted a Large beer that he read about from someone's comment on GoldStar I brought him one. Let me tell u when u buy one of those u wont need anymore beer for the rest of the night. It was $25.00 but it was worth it, it was huge! He couldn't finish it. U get to keep the cup which was really cool. They had a Valentine package that u can buy when u get there. It includes a pic, two glasses of champagne, two free flags with your knights color and a parchment that has your name wishing u happy valentines day. When they read the birthday announcements they say your names for the Valentine Day best wishes. The Food was excellent couldn't finish all of it. It was a great night our waitress was really nice so don't forget to tip! :o) Happy Valentines Day and enjoy the show at Medieval Times Its a good one.

This is well organized and executed. The food was better than I was expecting and the ten year old I took really enjoyed it. I wouldn't get there too early as they are just selling lots of merchandise and drinks.
The doors to the event did not open until the listed event time.

I have two sons, 11 and 13, and they had a great time at this event..especially the younger one. if you pay a little extra, you can get knighted by the King, which i highly recommend for a birthday keepsake. the show was interesting and held my attention, though sometimes the PA system made it difficult to hear the actor's lines. The jousting and sword fighting elements more than made up for it. I highly recommend this one-of-a-kind event.

Oh and the food was pretty good..served hot and timely.

Great night of fun for everyone who attended with me. I would recommend what others have suggested, you have so much more fun when you go all in at this. Cheering for your knight while brandishing a chicken leg makes it all the more fun.

I've been wanting to go for a long time now, but just couldn't bring myself to justify the cost. But going through Goldstar, doesn't make it hurt at all.

    Go and have fun.

This event ended up being even better than I'd expected! They had the reservation altogether which I had requested, and we had absolutely no problem getting our tickets and securing ourselves a great table. It was actually more accomodating than I had expected- they offered to hold tickets at the front when our friends didnt arrive at the same time so that we could go into the bar area without waiting for them, which was nice. The drinks arent cheap, but you do get to keep the really cool glasses in the end, and 1 big beer will last you the whole show, so you dont need to keep getting up and going to the bar or spending a whole lot of $. The waiters and staff were really friendly, and the show was a lot of fun! My only suggestion- bring antibacterial stuff or wipes to clean your hands before you eat since you're eating with your hands and they dont supply the wipes pre-meal.

First thing please don't get there earlier then the 90 minutes, no matter what time you get there before the 90 minutes they will not let you in so you would have to seat in your car. The next thing is that you have to pay an extra $2 for the small museum they have and it would take you 10 minutes to see everything, it should be part of the ticket if you ask me. The following thing is that when you print your confirmation e-mail you still have to wait on line as if you were buying the tickets to get the tickets printed out for you. We had a group of 5 and it took 15 minutes to get them printed out while the ones who bought the tickets through the medieval times web site just walked in. They did how ever pay more then paying through goldstar so I don't mind the waiting on line. If you like to drink alcohol they have bars inside all over the place, but they cost too much money for water down drinks. Too much ice, too much juice, just a little bit of alcohol and it will cost you an eye. Overall I had fun, the food was good and a lot of it too which I liked ( remember if you are not done eating let them know because if you don't they will rush you and take your plate). Medieval times is great to visit once every few years and i do recommended people to visit just watch out for what you buy.

We went for my daughter's birthday. Personally I thought it was going to be a little cheesy but it was a lot of fun.

As my daughter said afterwards any time you walk away from an event with a full belly and a sore throat you had a great time.

If that is her barometer she had a great time.

Too much fun for words. I NEVER thought I'd enjoy something like this, but it great. The set and acting really transports you. It's hard to believe that you're still in Jersey. The fact that they "knight" children before the performance was too special, and I've never seen so may kids absolutely enthralled with an even for a straight 2 hours. An amazing experience for adults too. Lots of fun, surprisingly good food (takeout containers are available for leftovers) and generous, free parking.

Word of warning - I felt this was almost 100% for the kids. Actors did their best, but I think the horses and the live falcon were the best performers of everyone.

Food was great! However, I spent most of the show waiting for a drink server I was told would come, and never did. I would've gotten up and gone to bar if only someone had told me that she didn't show up to work. Big disappointment there.

But the kid had a blast - that's saying a lot considering all he mostly cares about is video games and TV. So it gets a good rating.

The entertainment was very good. I cheered so much that my throat was sore for the night. I enjoyed the food although I could only eat half a whole chicken.

Medieval times is awesomely cheesy and ridiculous. We went 100% in, cheered for our knight like crazy and heartily digged in to the sub-par food. It is really fun for wacky night out. Also, there is a bus from NYC that will take you about 3 blocks from the venue.

This is a great fun for all ages and families. The food is tasty but be prepared to make a mess. A bit tough to get to if you live in Manhattan we had to get a taxi each way.

For the price on Goldstar it is very good value for money.

Although I had my printout and confirmation number and told them that I had ordered the tickets from Goldstar they could not find any record of me and my three tickets at the box office. After much searching they decided to let me and my party enter and gave us tickets.
I object to being strongly advised to get there 90 minutes before the show and dinner. This was simply to have us there to buy, buy, buy. Everything was only for sale. Photos, objects, drinks and even the "museum." It was merely one big commercial and artificial enterprise.
Once inside the arena, things got much better. The food was plentiful and good and well served. The show, aside from the over amplification was great, especially the horses, riders and jousting.
My group was concerned about the "Arabian" rider's beautiful white horse who drooled and seemed to foam at the mouth during its entire performance. We wondered how well the animals were cared for.

We had a great time. There was 7 adults and 1 child age 7. It was a birthday event, so I paid the extra $10 for them to read her name amongst the others being announced and she got a 'birthday scroll announcement' for herself. The $1 flags are fun and add to it. The horses and ambiance was great. I've been many times before but it's like going the first time when you're turning someone else onto it for their first time. I've never been to anything quite like this. It is expensive, but with Goldstar, it was well worth it. (be sure to ask for vegetarian meals, water instead of soda, or decaf instead of leaded, if you so wish they will gladly accommodate). So much food I was stuffed and it was all very good.

The food was surprising good, but we would advise taking ziplock bags for left-overs as our kids didn't eat the food.

The show was about 90 minutes long. Medieval Times suggests coming up to 90 minutes before showtime, but that is really a trap to get you to spend money in the gift shops before the show.

The whole experience was wonderful and exciting! From start to finish you are given a show that keeps you involved and while the show is going on you are served a tasty meal. It is a great family place to go where you are called My Lord or My Lady which really brings you into the time period. I can't wait to go back!

The event ran about 2.5 hours. The food was better than expected, and yes you do have to eat with your hands, but a wet-nap is provided at the end of your meal. Also the bar stayed open throughout the entire show. If you're going with a large group (we had 10 people total) just make sure to redeem your tickets together (even if you bought them separately) to be sat together as a group. Four members of our party were late and they were nice enough to hold those tickets at the door for them so we could go in first instead of waiting out front. Overall good experience, nice group event, and children-friendly.

The concept is great! I took 3 children that had no idea about castles, sword fighting,or defending the king's honor. They do now. They loved it so much! I'm so happy to teach them somthing new. My nephew was impressed with the horsemanship. When the horse was dancing,He excitedly yelled,"He's mooning walking! He's doing Micheal Jackson moves!" We had a good laugh about that one. The knights really had us hyped up about them. The little ritual of kissing the flower and tossing them in the crowd was very effective. I felt like the red knight winked at me when he tossed the flower. The waiter was fast and friendly. We were really at a feast! We even put on costumes to be knighted and take pictures.

I took my son here for his 18th birthday. He had been here when he was in grammar school and remembered that he had a lot of fun. I was glad he told me what to expect. It was fun being called "my lady" and "my lord". The entertainment was good, especially cheering for the knight who represented your section by color. There was more than enough food also. I was a little disappointed that no matter how many times I reminded the server it was my son's birthday, he still forgot to acknowledge it and there was no cupcake or candle for him. He wasn't as bothered about it as I was, though. We bought the pictures (the one with the king, the group photo, and a birthday pic). All in all, it was a good experience and I would go back.

Medieval Times was thoroughly entertaining. I could tell the employees and actors truly value what they do, and they do it well! The food was pretty good, and there was a lot of it. The "wench" brought out cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to our friends who were there celebrating their birthdays.

I wouldn't pay full price for Medieval Times. The Goldstar discounted price is what the full price should be.

I decided to go to Medieval Times with some friends for my birthday. We kind of went as a joke expecting a hokey, outdated (and overpriced) experience. But we were pleasantly surprised to find a clean "castle," friendly staff and genuinely well-crafted entertainment. The food was bland and a bit dry (probably much like in the real medieval times), but you got A LOT of it. The "Pepsi" described on the menu is literally just Pepsi (no diet), so beware (you can order other drinks for extra). Our "wench" (waitress) was just the right blend of friendly, accommodating and sarcastic (good for our 20-somethings group). The drinks at the bar were limited and expensive, but that's to be expected. Our commute from Manhattan (via NJ Transit bus) was very quick and easy.

Overall, even the most skeptical of my friends left feeling like they got their money's worth for the 3+ hours of entertainment (including the post/pre-show activities). It's certainly NOT worth the full price of a ticket ($60), but at Goldstar prices, you get quite a value.

This was such a great experience! I went with a group of 10 people, all of which were over the age of 25, and we honestly had an amazing time! Our seats were great (though it seems like all the seats in the stadium are great). We got there right when the doors opened, which I would highly recommend, just so you get the chance to look around at the gift shops, as well as have a few drinks (if, again, you're entire group is over the age of 25!)

We bought our 6 yr old a cup that lights up and he got a strawberry frozen drink for $13.00. The show started on time which was a plus :) and the food was excellent the portions are huge. The knight show they put on keeps your attention.

AWESOME SHOW! I went in a group of five people in the 20-30 age bracket. It is a little cheesy, but I found it to be that hilarious comic relief some people said was missing. The narrator has an AMAZING voice, like the kind they have on tv. The food was surprisingly good and plentiful. (I am a picky eater when it comes to quality)

Groups have to arrive together and get a section number. Then they go wait and browse around the bar/photo/souvenir area. All the souvenirs are super expensive, so if you go with children expect to be broke or for them to have an unhappy experience.

The performers were outstanding (!), and the action was very real. Food was excellent (soup, chicken, spare rib, apple pie and coffee) just a little hard to see during the performances. - I would totally recommend this event, and at the Goldstar price it is excellent value. -C-

Had a great time! The show is entertaining and the food is plentiful. I'm in my late 20s and took my dad (and mom) for Father's Day because we hate going to traditional restaurants for these kind of occasions. We all enjoyed it and I bought my dad a big souvenir cup that he filled with beer while we were there. Although I don't have kids, all the kids in the place seemed to love it. A good time for adults and kids alike.

FYI - for anyone debating on whether to purchase a seat for their toddler, don't waste your money. I didn't know what to expect so I bought my 2 year old son a ticket but there was more than enough space for him to sit comfortably on my lap and more than enough food.

My family and I arrived early, about 1 hour before the show time. We waited in a large area with tables for refreshments. There were several opportunities for souvenires (ranging from $1 to several hundred). However, there were a few appearances by the King and court members for "knighting" ceremonies for those celebrating birthdays. The show was great! I do not think enough emphasis is put on the performances of the horses. They were really spectacular. Unfortunately, we went on a Sunday afternoon and the event was only 2/3 full. The crowd was not as enthusiastic as I had hoped it would be. Go with the intent to completey buy into the idea and you should have a really good time. One more note, the servers do expect a cash gratuity at the end of the evening.

Medieval Times - New Jersey

Medieval Times Celebrates its 25-year reign in North America. Medieval Times' founders first launched their unique idea for a dinner attraction on the Spanish island of Majorca in 1973. This imaginative new entertainment spot was inspired by the true medieval tradition of royal families inviting guests to a festival and feast to watch Knights compete on horseback. During the early years in Spain, the show's authentic display of classic equestrian skills and medieval pageantry took place in outdoor arenas, a far cry from the climate-controlled castles of today. There, the conventions of today's shows were established. Guests were seated in sections named for regions of Medieval Spain and encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing their region. As Medieval Times has grown in popularity both in Spain and North America, some things haven't changed. Like the commitment to the accuracy of weapons and costumes. Others have. The characters and storyline of the show evolve every few years, making sure it stays fresh and exciting for generations to come.
