The Manassas Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 20th anniversary by looking backwards and
forwards in its latest concert, Bach to the Future
. MSO Music Director James Villani conducts the orchestra through an exciting program including works from Johann Sebastian Bach, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Aaron Copland. The evening begins with Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze
and Elliot Del Borgo's Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night
. Then, celebrated clarinetist and Juilliard faculty member Jon Manasse will perform Copland's Clarinet Concerto
. Moving closer to home, the MSO will perform songs written by students from Westgate and Mullen Elementary Schools. The student-composers will form a choir that will join the orchestra in the performance of their remarkable compositions. Finally, the concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky's rousing Symphony No. 5
. Celebrate two decades of "Your Hometown Symphony" -- and the prospect of several more to come -- with this special evening of music at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
