Learn more about the schooner Adirondack.
Experience New York like you never have on this 2 hour sail aboard the Adirondack, a wooden 80-foot pilot schooner. Within five minutes of leaving the dock, you’ll forget the mayhem and noise of Manhattan street life, and you’ll feel the relaxing breeze of New York Harbor. You’ll take in the famous Manhattan skyline as it was meant to be seen, from the water – plus spectacular views of Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. You’ll experience the following on your 2-hour sail:
- Heading south from Chelsea Piers and down the Hudson River to Battery Park, the schooners pass by Ellis Island and sail out to the Statue of Liberty.
- Wind and time permitting, they will head toward Governors Island, breeze by the Financial District and tease her bow under the Brooklyn Bridge on the East River.
- Complimentary beer, soda, and water will be provided. Champagne and other wines are available for purchase.
The fastest resident sail vessels in the New York Harbor are the Schooners Adirondack. They held the record finishes in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for 14 consecutive seasons (1994 – 2007). Though they are light and lively sailing vessels, they are also quite comfortable, with ample deck space and seating for up to 49. They were built and designed for taking groups of people on spectacular sightsailing adventures by Scarano Boatbuilding of Albany, NY. They are operated by Coast Guard-certified captains and extremely friendly and talented crew.
A few rounds will be served but it is not an unlimited booze-cruise. The aim is to create an elegant, relaxing, peaceful and safe experience for all guests._
