The sail was great fun. It was still pretty cold out on the water but we had great wind and the crew was awesome. If you are doing this before July, dress warm. I would definitely recommend it.

The cruise was a blast. You really got to experience the joy of sailing. Be sure to ask the captain for a chance to steer.

A fantastically chilled evening trip viewing the city as the lights come on. Our UK guest had visited NYC several times previously so this was a new way to see the sights and the highlight of her trip - will definitely repeat when other friends come to town.

This is a quiet cruise where you soak in the serenity. No music or explanation of landmarks as we pass by (but any questions promptly answered). As it was a slow sail, we only sailed from Pier 62 (23rd st) to Liberty Island and back, which I didn't find 'enough'. Wished that they would have sailed under one of the bridges (eg. Brooklyn) to afford the view on the other side.

The friendly crew deserves 5*, working nonstop to make us comfortable. Very generous with drinks - to the point I'm shy to accept their offer for more drinks to save them another to and fro. Captain Doug was kind and very professional.

This was one of the best things I have done in NYC. The captain and crew on the ship were great, the sights were beautiful, and it was overall a great way to spend the evening.

After the cruise, one of the crew members even suggested a dinner spot for us that had the most amazing baked ziti.

Description

The 80-foot, 1890s-style pilot schooner is the wonders of New York Harbor. Schooner Adirondack has been sailing in the New York City Harbor since the fall of 1999, has entertained thousands of NYC visitors and locals, and has attracted a large and growing number of passionate regulars who can’t stop coming back for more. Many New Yorkers consider multiple trips aboard the schooner to be a regular and highly anticipated part of their warm-weather seasons.

The Schooner Adirondack features plenty of seating, teak decks and impressive mahogany trim. Guests always enjoy the friendliest and finest service, and are treated to complimentary beverages on all trips. The Schooner Adirondack is the fastest resident sail vessel in the New York Harbor, and a record-holder in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for 14 consecutive seasons.

A jacket is recommended, as it can get chilly on the water at night.

About the Ticket Supplier: Classic Harbor Line LLC

Built in 1994 in the Scarano Boat Building of Albany, New York, the Schooner Adirondack is an 80-foot wooden replica of a classic turn-of-the-century pilot schooner.

Heading south from Chelsea Piers and down the Hudson River to Battery Park, the Schooner Adirondack passes by Ellis Island and sails out to the Statue of Liberty. Wind and time permitting, she will head toward Governor's Island, breeze by the Financial District and the Brooklyn Bridge on the East River.

The 1920s-style motor yacht "Manhattan," also built by Scarano Boat Building, is brand new to the New York City harbor as of spring 2006. This 80-foot, wood-trimmed, Gilded Era commuter yacht runs full circumnavigations of Manhattan, dinner cruises and sunset cruises, and is available for private charter.
