Jazz legend Duke Ellington enjoyed a career in music that spanned more than 50 years. In that time, "The Duke" built up a body of work featuring some of the most celebrated songs of all time, including "Take the 'A' Train," "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" and "In a Sentimental Mood." Winner of two Tony Awards, Sophisticated Ladies is a stylish retrospective of Ellington's musical legacy that perfectly recreates his big band sound. Unfortunately there were no disclosures regarding the nudity and adult language used in this production. There is some amazing talent in the show but unfortunately the content took away from us actually enjoying it. There were disclosures posted at the theater but that does little good after you have already purchased tickets. Not a family show at all!

RENT is a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based loosely on Puccini’s opera La Bohème. The musical follows a year in the lives of seven friends living in the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York’s Alphabet City located in the East Village. As the impoverished artists deal with their daily struggles, tragedy hits, and the love they share embodies their lives. The music, characters and story of RENT celebrate love, diversity and the power of friendship, as shown through the musical’s signature song, “Seasons of Love.” This blockbuster show will truly inspire and move any audience.
About the Ticket Supplier: Atlanta Lyric Theatre
Atlanta Lyric Theatre, Atlanta's only local professional musical theater company, was formed in 1980 by Tedi and Robert Langdon and Sally Knap as the Southeastern Savoyards, a repertory theatre company dedicated to presenting the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. The company's first production, Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado, was performed at Emory University in December 1980. Later, the company's productions were moved to the Marist School, the 14th Street Playhouse, Center Stage Theater, and then to the Robert Ferst Center for the Arts on the campus of Georgia Tech where the company's main stage performances were produced for seventeen seasons.
