Blind housewife Susy Hendrix is being terrorized in her apartment by a band of criminals who believe she has the heroin-stuffed doll they smuggled into the country. But Susy's no helpless victim. Utilizing her unique abilities, she's able to level the playing field with the help of a young neighbor, devising a pulse-pounding game of cat-and-mouse that unfolds in the dark of night and has been thrilling audiences for decades. Originally produced on Broadway in 1966 and made into the classic Audrey Hepburn film a year later, Wait Until Dark is an electrifying thriller by Frederick Knott, the playwright behind Dial M for Murder. Witty dialogue and a lot of physical comedy, really well-done production. Everyone works together at this theatre, the author is a main character, the cast does all the scene changes, a lot of fun to watch. The venue is cozy and comfortable, once you find it. You have to spot the hidden sign in a strip mall, behind Taco Bell. The similarity of the name to Mesa Center for the Arts can be confusing to people like myself who read too fast! But the woman at the ticket area was very sweet about our slightly late arrival. small and appreciative audience, great writing and performance! I'll find my way there again!
