Alexander Vereshagin, Music Director and Conductor, composer/arranger, pianist and teacher, graduated from St. Petersburg National Conservatory and continued on their faculty as professor of conducting until 1991. In addition to teaching, he conducted several of Russia's renowned orchestras, performing symphonic, operatic and choral works. He was featured on radio and television, directed master classes for composers and acted as consultant to music institutions.

Mr. Vereshagin founded the Russian Chamber Orchestra soon after immigrating to the United States, performing with them throughout the Bay Area and in Oregon and Florida. For the past year, he has devoted much of his time to composing and arranging new pieces based on Russian works and presenting world or U. S. premieres, directing the Russian Chamber Orchestra in these as is wll as in more traditional repertoire.

Mr. Vereshagin's classes while at the National Conservatory included conducting, orchestration, piano, voice, and harmony. He is presently offering instruction in all of these disciplines to new music students and to those who want to resume interrupted training, as well as to the serious student of classical repertoire. His style of teaching is one of relaxed communication, encouraging discipline with patience, and his knowledge of music background is extensive, even profound. Mr. Vereshagin has taught classes on Russian music at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California for the past four years.
