Legend has it that Sidney Poitier was so moved by the story of The Lilies of the Field that he waived his usual salary -- not knowing he would later win worldwide fame (and an Oscar) for his portrayal of the hard-headed Homer Smith. From the moment it was published as a novel by William E. Barret, The Lilies of the Field has had a special effect on people. Experience it yourself when Open Window Theatre presents this heart-warming stage adaptation. Headed west in search of a new beginning in the mid-1950s, black Southern Baptist itinerant worker Homer Smith encounters a group of Catholic nuns scratching out an existence in the remote Southwest. Mother Maria Marthe, convinced that Homer was sent to them by God to build them a chapel, persuades him to stay (without pay) and take on this seemingly impossible task. The faith of all are tested, proving that friendships and miracles alike come in all forms. Learn More

A delightful evening of engaging dance. The first act featured a series of short energetic dances. The second act was a single piece based on Grimm's fairy tales and accompanied by a live music ensemble. The choreography throughout the evening was engaging and vibrant, sometimes whimsical.

It was one of the best dance performances I have seen. We came to watch Susanne Grochett perform and the second half of the show was outstanding, not to mention how much we enjoyed the first half. Very well done and can't wait for the next show!
