Legend has it that Sidney Poitier was so moved by the story of The Lilies of the Field that he waived his usual salary -- not knowing he would later win worldwide fame (and an Oscar) for his portrayal of the hard-headed Homer Smith. From the moment it was published as a novel by William E. Barret, The Lilies of the Field has had a special effect on people. Experience it yourself when Open Window Theatre presents this heart-warming stage adaptation. Headed west in search of a new beginning in the mid-1950s, black Southern Baptist itinerant worker Homer Smith encounters a group of Catholic nuns scratching out an existence in the remote Southwest. Mother Maria Marthe, convinced that Homer was sent to them by God to build them a chapel, persuades him to stay (without pay) and take on this seemingly impossible task. The faith of all are tested, proving that friendships and miracles alike come in all forms. Learn More

Political satirist Tim Slagle is a twenty-five year veteran of the comedy club circuit, and he has performed in most of the 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. His edgy style has made him a cult hero, and a favorite of his peers. He wages a war against political correctness, and fights for Truth and Justice in a time when speaking your mind is a crime more heinous than treason.
He is a contributing editor to Liberty Magazine, and has had articles published by the American Legislative Exchange Council and currently writes for Big Hollywood on Breitbart.com. He performs at prestigious political functions and for major think-tanks nationwide. His Off-Broadway show, The Slagle/Naughton Report ran in Chicago concurrently with the 96 Democratic National Convention. Tim produced and starred in a pilot called the Mudslingers Ball, which ran on KSTP in Minneapolis, and came in No. 2 in its time slot. He also has appeared on MTV, Showtime, and C-Span.
