Famed for their contemporary dance theater pieces that mix impeccable technique with beauty and biting wit, the award-winning Shapiro & Smith Dance premiere a new piece and bring back a pair of favorites from their acclaimed repertory for their latest performance. They'll debut Narcissus, which utilizes a series of mirrors to explore our current digital and real-life preoccupation with selfies and ourselves. Artistic director Joanie Smith created the work, featuring music by Soozie Tyrell of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and New York composer Scott Killian. Also on the program are Dance With Two Army Blankets and What Dark/Falling Into Light. Learn More

Focused on the enchanting music of the late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez (known as The Dark Nightingale), Jawaahir’s 2010 performance offers audiences unforgettable dances by Spanish guest artist Nesma al-Andalus, spectacular new choreographies by Cassandra and Jawaahir, and sumptuously colorful costumes, all accompanied by the virtuosic Arabic musicians of the renowned Georges Lammam Ensemble (gathered from across the country and around the world)!
