A group of dynamic dancers from Minneapolis have hit the road with a trunk full of tap shoes, funky costumes and a big brass band, bringing their high-energy show, Feet Don't Fail Me Now, to the Ames Center stage. Heatbox, the human beat box, joins the swingin' seven-piece band Root City to accompany each shuffle and stomp as the tappers let loose on everything from sand to folding chairs. This joyous parade of genre-hopping music and hard-hitting percussive dance mixes funk, salsa and more into a theatrical event that won Rhythmic Circus the prestigious Edinburgh Festival "Spirit of the Fringe" Award in 2012. Focused on the enchanting music of the late Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez (known as The Dark Nightingale), Jawaahir’s 2010 performance offers audiences unforgettable dances by Spanish guest artist Nesma al-Andalus, spectacular new choreographies by Cassandra and Jawaahir, and sumptuously colorful costumes, all accompanied by the virtuosic Arabic musicians of the renowned Georges Lammam Ensemble (gathered from across the country and around the world)!
