Innovative Japanese-style Taiko drumming ensemble Mu Daiko comes to the Maplewood Performing Arts Theatre for a special concert event. Founded in 1997, Mu Daiko has attracted a loyal and expanding audience with its dynamic annual concerts. Under the leadership of artistic director Iris Shiraishi, this acclaimed, Twin Cities-based group integrates traditional melodies and original compositions into an ever-evolving repertoire. Highlights for the rhythmic ensemble include a record-setting 15th anniversary concert and tour featuring internationally renowned guest artists Hanayui of Kodo. Kathy Kosins was wonderful as was the local group that played with her, a really great combination. Too the screen showing different scenes/people etc as she was singing was an added attraction. The shame was so few attended the concert, so many missed out on a REALLY GOOD TIME.
