view more less of this reviewI didn't pay full price so I feel I got my money's worth. However, this was more about Cirque than it was about Michael, which is where they went wrong. The first half was a mix of a lot of songs I'd never heard before - that's not why I came to this. And many of my favorites (Remember The Time) were a mere sound clip, disappointed. The 2nd half was better, actually was moved to tears right before the awesome finale. The acrobats on the trampolines were the best part because they were on the center stage. So much of the show was lost and felt 2D because it was on the back stage farthest away from the audience. I don't know how they could have messed up that opportunity. I would have been 100% satisfied had they performed more than 1/3 of the show on the center stage. More oversized visuals (like the boy in the window) would have worked really well here. They simply did not 1) size up the production to it's surroundings and 2) honor Michael the way he should have been. The whole production felt like it was thrown together quickly, aside from the visual effects - which were fabulous. I'm still glad I went but not up to par with what I expect from Cirque.
star this review starred report as inappropriateThe second half of the show was great-true Cirque Du Soliel and Michael Jackson fashion. The first half didn't live up to my expections. I imagined the show would start in spectacular way-maybe a big Michael Jackson hit, colored light show, acrobats swinging high into the ceiling of the Target Center. The first half ended with Thriller which led to a great second half.
star this review starred report as inappropriateBeing a huge Michael Jackson fan for many years really enticed me to bring my child to see this show. Never seen a Cirque du Soleil show before (not my cuppa tea), but the trailers for this looked out of this world. I did not enjoy the majority of it, as did my child. The mime was too much/irritating and what I was led to believe of this company, the show was nowhere up to my expectations and started 20 minutes late. The second half rocked (music-wise), but was short lived and the show continued to be mostly lackluster. I would have preferred to have seen the "This Is It" concert, minus the incredibly talented icon. Sets, routines and costumes would have been awe inspiring, much in contrast to this production. I am sure that many will enjoy, but just wasn't for me.
