Join the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, too, for this fresh adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, featuring new tunes by Tim Rice (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats). Everyone loves the story of the girl who wakes up in a strange land filled with witches and wizards, munchkins and monkeys -- and who makes some wonderful friends in her quest to find her way back home. Journey down the yellow brick road through the land of Oz to meet the Wizard while humming along to both new and memorable songs from the Oscar-winning film, including "Over the Rainbow," "We're Off to See the Wizard" and "If I Only Had a Brain." Anything Frank Theatre does is going to be AT LEAST very good. This show is excellent, disturbing and draining. It is not a "feel good" show. But, if you want to be challenged and engrossed, this just may be the show for you. Parking is a little bit of a pain on the West Bank. There is a parking ramp that I think is a little pricey. If you want to walk, you can park across 35 at a meter.
This play contains strong language and is recommended for children ages 16 and older.
Enda Walsh wrote the book for the musical Once.
Thomas Magill is played by John Catron, who was recently featured in the Guthrie Theatre’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and previously seen at Frank Theatre in Metamorphosis and By The Bog of Cats.
