Fresh off her Pulitzer Prize nomination for Becky Shaw, playwright Gina Gionfriddo delivers Rapture, Blister, Burn, an offbeat comedy that continues the feminist conversation -- even as it explodes it. Catherine, a rockstar academic, returns home to take care of her elderly mother. In doing so, she reconnects with her former lover, Don, and former best friend, Gwen. Gwen and Don are married with children and seem to represent the kind of conventional life Catherine rejected. But first impressions can be deceiving: As the women swap lives, the full consequences of their decisions become harder and harder to reckon. Following in the footsteps of Wendy Wasserstein's The Heidi Chronicles, Rapture, Blister, Burn explores how the lives of women have -- and haven't -- changed. Gionfriddo's other writing credits include Law & Order and the Netflix series House of Cards. Learn More

Theater in the corner of Franklin and Lyndale. Tiny place with some personality. We discovered while we were there that they plan on tearing half the block and rebuilding some new store fronts in 2015. The theater will be rebuilt. This is our second visit here and we enjoyed our visit both times. The seating and lay out make it hard to find a bad spot in the house.
The play is fast talking with interesting characters and a compelling plot. The villain did a magnificent job. His menacing snarl and utter lack of compassion fit the mood of the story perfectly. The humor was disarming. Many of the characters had to play multiple roles but were mostly able to do it successfully.
If you enjoy stories with fast talking reporters, sleazy political law enforcement types, evil goons, and back stabbing characters this is the play for you.
Running time: Approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
