Whenever you assume a fake identity, you risk losing the "real" one underneath. This is just one of the mind-bending problems haunting the title character of Miranda, the new play by James Still, three-time nominee for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In Miranda, a CIA operative who goes by many names is in the midst of what might be deemed an occupational hazard: an existential crisis. Who is she? What's kept her working in the Middle East all these years? And how, exactly, did she find herself directing a production of Othello in Yemen? The answers are as arresting and profound as the questions themselves in the third play of Still's trilogy exploring the effects of 9/11 on one family. Michael Robins directs this piece commissioned by the Illusion Theater. Learn More

Quotes & Highlights
Watch a short preview video of the show.
“This ‘buddy’ musical has genuine warmth and charm … Director Christine Karki smartly resists the temptation to play these scenes with tears and puppy-dog looks … Meerdink and Hansen treat their characters with kindness and discovery … seeing them give a genuine and unstinting account of two old friends who recognize the impact they’ve had on each other was so worth the 90-minute investment.” -Star Tribune
“The bonds of friendship run throughout MMT’s engaging and moving production. Kevin Hansen and Steven Meerdink completely inhabit their characters … both bring plenty of shades to characters that could have remained stock. The show embraces what brought them together and spins that into a universal tale.” -City Pages
“Kevin Hansen and Steven Meerdink are a great pairing … playing their roles as children and as adults with perfect ease, capturing the humor and heartbreak that comes with any long-term relationship. The tight-knit friendship at the heart of this show is palpable and heartfelt. A simple and moving story.” —Twin Cities Metro

_Two boys. Friends forever. One moves on and the other stays behind. When time tests the bonds of their friendship, only their stories are left to keep them together. A richly melodic musical, The Story of My Life is a soaring tribute to the power of friendship and the people who change our lives forever. _
